The Lesson Flow
1
Introduction (2 Minutes)
Teacher Talk:
"Today, we’re going on a sound journey. Sometimes our minds are like busy streets with too many cars. Mindful breathing is like finding a quiet park. We’ll use sounds to help our minds stay in that quiet park."
- Explain that "anchors" are things that keep us steady.
- Introduce the specific soundscape (e.g., "gentle rain").
2
Guided Breathing Exercise (10 Minutes)
Set the Scene:
Have students sit tall like mountains or lay down if space permits. Ask them to gently close their eyes or look at a fixed spot on the floor.
Scripted Prompts:
- "Press play on the soundscape. Listen to the first sound..."
- "Inhale deeply through your nose, imagining the sound filling your lungs..."
- "Exhale slowly through your mouth, letting the sound carry your thoughts away..."
- "If your mind wanders to homework or lunch, just bring it back to the sound of the rain."
3
Reflection and Discussion (3 Minutes)
Ask students to slowly wiggle their fingers and toes before opening their eyes. Use these prompts:
"How did the sounds change your focus?"
"What does your body feel like right now?"
