Kindness Captain Script
Lesson: Chain Reaction
Duration: 30 Minutes
Part 1: The Ripple Effect (5 mins)
Teacher Script:
"Class, today we are going to talk about a superpower we all have: Kindness. But did you know kindness is like a domino? When you do one kind thing, it can push someone else to be kind, too. We call this the Ripple Effect."
Action: Show the domino video from the slide deck. Ask: "How did that one tiny domino move the big one at the end?"
Part 2: Kindness Brainstorm (10 mins)
Teacher Script:
"Look at the slides. We have kindness ideas for home, school, and even the playground. What is one kind thing you did yesterday? How did it make you feel? How do you think it made the other person feel?"
Key Discussion Point:
Focus on prosocial behavior : doing things to benefit others without expecting a reward.
Prompt Tip:
Remind them that small things (like a smile) count as much as big things!
Part 3: Building the Chain (15 mins)
Teacher Script:
"Now, you are going to be Kindness Captains. Use your 'Kindness Chain Plan' to pick 5 acts. Once you've written them, you'll get 5 strips of paper. We are going to link them together to wrap around our room!"
Teacher Tip: Pre-cut 1" x 8" strips of construction paper. Use staples or tape to link them. Start one "Seed Chain" in the front of the room and let students add their 5 links to the end as they finish.
The Daily Mission
Set a goal: "By Friday, I want our chain to reach all the way to the [Door/Window/Back Wall]!"
Next Step: Use the Kindness Tracker daily.
