A comprehensive social-emotional learning lesson bundle focused on self-awareness. Students construct and play with an origami fortune teller manipulative to explore emotions, strengths, and mindset, followed by deep personal reflection.
Player A asks Player B to choose a corner category (e.g. SUPERPOWERS). Player A opens the teller vertically and horizontally, spelling each letter aloud.
2. The Number Count
Player B selects one of the 4 visible numbers inside. Player A opens and shuts the teller that many times, revealing a second set of numbers.
3. The Flap Reveal
Player B chooses one final number. Player A lifts that triangular flap, reads the prompt, and Player B shares their honest reflection. Then switch roles!
Active Listener Stance: Listen without interrupting, nod or offer an encouraging phrase ("Thank you for sharing that"), and maintain warm eye contact.

Phase 4: Independent Reflection & Debrief
12 Minutes
Transition to Reflection Sheet (7 min):
Students return to their independent seats with their Reflection Sheets to document two prompts they opened, analyze personal body cues, and formulate an Anchor Mantra.
Mantra Prompting Stems:
"Even when I feel nervous, I know that I can..."
"My strength of ______ helps me through..."
Whole-Group Circle Debrief (5 min):
Q1: Which question felt easiest to answer? Which one made you pause and think?
Q2: What did you notice about where stress or excitement lives in your body?
Q3: How does hearing a classmate's answer help you understand them better?
Tiered Supports & Accommodations

Tier 2 / Counseling Extension
Ideal for small-group counseling check-ins. Students can customize blank versions with personalized coping strategies or emotion vocabulary.
