This lesson uses play and sharing to enhance communication and empathy. Learning Objective Children will practice basic social skills, identify positive friend behaviors, and express empathy through group sharing and art. Materials Soft ball Large sheet of paper Markers or crayons Discussion Guide Friendship Cards Instructional Approach Interactive Play & Visual Expression Tier 1 Support "Kindness in Action" Instructional Steps 5 Mins Introduction Welcome the children and briefly explain the importance of friendships and how we can all be good friends to one another. Introduce the activity by explaining that they will play games and talk about how to be good friends. 5 Mins Ice Breaker Activity Have the children sit in a circle on the rug. Use a soft ball to pass around. Each child says their name and one thing they like (e.g., "I'm Sam and I like blue!"). This activity helps children learn each other's names and interests. 10 Mins Group Drawing Place a large sheet of paper in the center of the circle. Provide markers and crayons. Ask the children to draw something they enjoy doing with friends or something that makes them happy. Encourage sharing space and making positive comments about each other's drawings. 5 Mins Discussion Use the Discussion Guide to facilitate a conversation about friendship. Encourage every child to participate and share their thoughts. Highlight key words like "sharing," "kindness," and "listening." 5 Mins Closure & Friendship Cards Hand out the Friendship Cards. Ask the children to draw one thing they can do to be a good friend today. Allow them to share their cards with the group if they are comfortable. Encourage them to practice these "Friendship Actions" throughout the week!
