Emotional Energy
What Happens to Bottled Feelings?
Bottling It Up
Like shaking a soda bottle with the cap on tight. Pressure builds, causing sudden outbursts, stomachaches, or sadness.
Result: Sudden explosion or painful exhaustion
Healthy Flow
Opening the valve gently. Giving your brain and body safe outlets to process what you feel without hurting anyone.
Result: Relief, clarity, and stronger connections
Key Truth: You don't have to carry heavy emotions alone.
Release Strategies
The Four Expression Channels
1. Words
Talk to a trusted friend, write in a journal, or ask for help.
2. Art
Draw shapes, scribble out anger, play music, or shape clay.
3. Body
Walk fast, shake your hands, stretch tall, or jump to release energy.
4. Calm
Take 4 deep belly breaths, ground your 5 senses, or close your eyes.
Different moments require different channels!
Vocal Communication
The Power of "I-Statements"
The 3-Part Communication Formula:
Step 1
"I feel..."
Name your emotion clearly
Step 2
"When..."
Describe what happened
Step 3
"I need..."
State your positive request
Instead of: "You always ruin everything!"
Say: "I feel frustrated when my game is interrupted. I need five quiet minutes."
