Facilitation Guide // Mission: Escape Room
TOP SECRET
Mission Objectives

Phase 1: Mission Briefing
Setting the stage and organizing units.
The Concept: Introduce the escape room theme. Explain that the objective is to solve all 5 puzzles to "escape" the Agency Training Ground before the 60-minute timer hits zero.
Agent Protocol: Discuss why communication is the Agency's most powerful tool. Puzzles cannot be solved by one person alone.
Deployment: Divide students into squads of 3-4. Assign each squad a starting station.
40 MIN
Phase 2: Tactical Puzzle Solving
Squads work through communication-based challenges.
Deployment: Distribute the Clue Cards. Some cards are "shared information" (Standard Riddles) and others are "restricted information" (Communication Challenges).
The Relay: For Communication Puzzles, ensure students follow the rules: no looking at each other's papers, relaying descriptions only through verbal cues.
Field Support: Monitor groups. Provide "Intel Hints" if a squad is stuck for more than 5 minutes on one puzzle.
Time Check: Announce the remaining time at T-minus 30, 15, and 5 minutes to build urgency.
10 MIN
Phase 3: Tactical Debrief
Analyzing squad performance and communication.
Squad Reports: Gather the squad. Ask: "Which puzzle required the most teamwork? What happened when two people had different ideas?"
Communication Analysis: Discuss the "Shape Description" challenge. Why was it harder than a normal riddle? What descriptive words worked best?
Real-World Intel: Conclude by discussing how clear communication helps in group projects, sports, and at home.
Field Notes for Mission Masters
Room Setup
Place Clue Cards around the room at different "stations." This encourages physical movement and keeps squad energies high.
Managing Stress
If a squad gets frustrated, remind them that agents stay calm. Have them take one collective "tactical breath" before re-reading the clue.
