Mission Objective
Students will collaborate to solve puzzles, enhance critical thinking, and work together to "escape" the room by synthesizing individual clues into a final solution.
Why This Mission?
This lesson promotes teamwork, problem-solving, and analytical skills by engaging students in an active, game-based learning environment. It encourages students to think "outside the box" while managing time and group dynamics.
Room & Material Setup (10 Min Prep)
Arrange the classroom layout to mimic an escape room environment (clusters of desks as stations).
Set up puzzle stations and place **Puzzle Cards** at each station.
Prepare **Clue Tokens** and ensure the timer/sound effects are ready.
Print Answer Keys for internal facilitator use.
Mission Timeline
00:00
The Briefing (Introduction) 5 Mins
• Explain the activity rules and objectives to the class.
• Emphasize collaboration and communication among team members.
• Assign students to their starting "Squads" (groups of 3-5).
00:05
Fieldwork (Active Puzzle Solving) 30 Mins
• Teams rotate through stations, solving **Puzzle Cards**.
• Facilitator circulates to offer hints without giving answers, ensuring high participation.
• Teams collect a **Clue Token** upon successful completion of each station.
00:35
Extraction (Debrief & Reflection) 10 Mins
• Gather students and review each group's experience and problem-solving process.
• Discuss strategies that worked (active listening, trial and error, division of labor).
• Provide the **Answer Key** to clarify any unresolved puzzles.

Escape Room Puzzle Cards Worksheet Mission: Station Cards
Security Level: Grade 6 // Operation Extravaganza
Instructions: Cut along the dotted lines.
01
Station One: The Riddle Room
"I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have no body, but I come alive with wind. What am I?"
Mission Task:
Discuss the riddle with your team. Once you agree on the answer, report to the facilitator to receive your first Clue Token.
Hint: Think about sound. What happens in a large empty cave or canyon?
02
Station Two: The Code Breaker
[ 4 ] [ 2 ] [ 5 ] [ 3 ]
"The sequence is hidden in plain sight. Use the digits provided on your tokens to form the final numerical key."
Mission Task:
Record these numbers. You will need to determine their final order once you have collected all tokens. What patterns do you see?
Hint: Sometimes the order you find them in is exactly the order you need them.
03
Station Three: The Word Puzzle
I R N E C O T
"Unscramble the letters to reveal a word related to our challenge."
Mission Task:
Work as a group to rearrange these letters. Once you find the hidden word, write it down and show your facilitator.
Hint: Think about something you do when you pay attention. Or maybe a word ending in -TION?

Distribution Logic
Hand out one token per team after they successfully complete a station challenge. Each token contains a digit that will be part of the final **4-digit exit code**.
For Station 1 (Riddle), hand out Token **Alpha**. For Station 3 (Word Scramble), hand out Token **Charlie**, and so on.
The Final Sequence
Students will eventually have tokens with 4, 2, 5, and 3. The final "Unlock" requirement is they arrange them in the sequence they were earned: **4-2-5-3**.
Tip: If a team is moving too fast, withhold a token until they explain their reasoning for the puzzle!

Internal Use Only
01
The Riddle Room
Solution
An Echo
Logic Trace:
"Speak without mouth" & "Hear without ears" refers to the reflection of sound. "Come alive with wind" refers to the travel of sound waves through air.
Facilitator Tip:
If students struggle, ask them: "What repeats exactly what you say but isn't a person?"
02
The Code Breaker
Solution
4 - 2 - 5 - 3
Logic Trace:
The digits provided at the station (4, 2, 5, 3) are the direct components of the key. The order corresponds to the sequence in which tokens are awarded.
Facilitator Tip:
Ask teams: "Is the order of your tokens meaningful? Look at the Token IDs (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta)."
03
The Word Puzzle
Solution
NOTICER / RECTION?
Critical Note:
The letters **I-R-N-E-C-O-T** can form **RECOINT** or **CITRONE**. However, for this challenge, use **NOTICE** (missing an 'R') or guide students to the word **DIRECTION** (if you add 'D'). **Preferred answer for this lesson: "RECOINT" (Agent Slang for intelligence gathered).**
Logic Trace:
Rearranging common letters to find patterns. Students should look for the -TION suffix pattern often used in code-heavy words.
Facilitator Tip:
If they are stuck, give them a letter! "It starts with the letter N..."
Final Extraction Code
ECHO-4253
Students must provide both the word from the riddle and the numerical sequence to "unlock" the final door. If a team completes this, the mission is officially successful.
