Expedition Timeline
10 min
Warm-Up: Feeling Check-In
Begin by asking: "How are you feeling right now?" Explain that feelings are like weatherβthey constantly change. Introduce the metaphor of emotions as territories on an island. (Refer to Slides 1-3).
15 min
Introduce the Explorer Map
Present the Emotion Explorer Slide Deck (Slides 4-7). Define the four core territories:
Calm Coast
Joyful Jungle
Frustration Falls
Sad Sea
15 min
Mapping the Interior
Distribute the Emotion Map Worksheet . Guide students as they color their personal islands. Discuss: "What does your body feel like in the Joyful Jungle? What does it feel like at Frustration Falls?"
Encourage them to think of "Navigation Tools" (coping skills) like deep breaths, counting to ten, or asking for a hug.
15 min
Scenario Card Challenge
Read a card aloud. Ask: "Which territory does this scenario fit into?" and "What tool should the explorer use to navigate?"
Pro Tip: Allow students to act out the "Navigation Tool" physically (e.g., everyone takes a deep breath together).
5 min
Final Debrief
Share maps and reflections. Remind students that explorers are brave not because they never get lost, but because they know how to find their way home.
Modification for Younger Explorers (Gr. 1)
Focus heavily on the visual colors (Blue = Sad, Green = Happy). Instead of writing "Navigation Tools," have them draw a small symbol (a balloon for breathing, a heart for a hug) on their map.

Navigating My Feelings! πΊοΈβ€οΈππ
What Are Emotions?
Emotions are feelings inside us!
They tell us about ourselves and the world around us. Happy, sad, mad, calm... there are so many! β¨
Teacher Notes: Ask students what emotions are and why they are important.
Your Inner Island
