Phase 1: Getting Ready (20m)
Introduce the **Bistro Break Menu** and the concept of "Tax and Tip" using the **Bistro Bites Slides**. Have students practice mental math estimation for various menu items together.
Grouping Strategy: Assign students to groups of 4. Have each group sit at a "Table Station." Provide each table with **ONE copy** of the **Group Table Check Worksheet**.

Phase 2: Social Etiquette Demo (15m)
Show students how to be a "Five Star Server" and a "Polite Patron." Use the role-play scripts provided in the slides.

Phase 3: The Big Simulation (40m)
Tables now function as groups. One student is the "Server" for another table, or the Teacher/TAs act as servers.
Step 1: The Group Order
The group decides what to order. The Writer fills out **Page 1** of the worksheet.
Step 2: The Math Blitz
Groups calculate subtotal, tax, and tip. Then they split the bill evenly.
Step 3: Team Challenges
Once the main check is done, groups move to **Page 2** to solve bonus math scenarios together.
Paper-Saving Rules
"We are only using ONE worksheet per group today. This means you must communicate!"
Use pencils so the group can correct mistakes easily.
Pass the worksheet around so everyone can see the math.
The Writer reads back the final total for team approval.
