My Calm Body Superpowers
What I can do when I feel mad, upset, or frustrated
1. Feeling Mad I notice big feelings
2. Pause & Breathe I stop my body
3. Safe & Ready I use my calm tools
All feelings are okay! But I keep my hands, feet, and words safe.
At kindergarten, I love to build tall towers, play games, draw, and laugh with my classmates and teachers.
Sometimes, things feel frustrating. A block tower falls down, or a friend takes a toy I wanted. When this happens, I might feel upset or very MAD.
Feeling mad happens to everyone. I am learning how to help my body calm down!

Hurts & Scares Friends
Hitting, kicking, and spitting hurt people's bodies and feelings. They are unsafe at school.
✕ No Hitting Hands hurt others
✕ No Kicking Feet hurt others
✕ No Spitting Spit spreads germs
Hitting, kicking, and spitting never solve the problem.

My 4 Calm-Down Power Tools
Here are 4 things I CAN do when I feel mad instead of hitting, kicking, or spitting:
1 Smell Flower & Blow Candle
Smell in... Blow out!
Breathe in deep through my nose like smelling a sweet flower. Blow out slow through my mouth.
Take 3 big breaths to slow down my engine!
2 Squeeze & Count to 5
1 ... 2 3 ... 4 ... 5
I can cross my arms and give my shoulders a tight hug, or squeeze my hands together while counting: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Deep pressure helps my muscles relax!
3 Use Calm Words
"I feel really mad!" "I need help, please!"
I do not need to hit, kick, or spit. I use my strong voice. My words tell everyone what I need.
Words tell others how to help me!
4 Ask for a Break
"Break, please!"
I can raise my hand or say: "Break please!" My teacher will walk with me to a safe, quiet space.
Taking a break is a smart choice!
Practice Saying These Superpower Words:
"I feel mad right now. I need help, please!" or "Break please!"
