What makes you awesome?
What Are Your Strengths?
Strengths aren't just about what you're "good at" in school.
What do you enjoy doing?

What do others say you're good at?
What challenges have you overcome?
"Think broadly! Creativity, problem-solving, empathy, humor, leadership... these are all strengths!"
Battling the "I Can't" Voice

Embrace Your Unique You!
There's only ONE you.
Your experiences, ideas, and personality are your real superpowers.

Introduction & Hook
Teacher Says:
"Good morning/afternoon, everyone! I'm really excited about what we're going to explore today. We're drawing inspiration from a fantastic book called 'You Are Awesome: Find Your Confidence and Dare to be Brilliant at (Almost Anything)' . Has anyone heard of it, or thought about what it truly means to be 'awesome'? Is it about being perfect, or always getting things right? What do you think?"
Pause for brief student reactions or head nods.
"Today, our objective is to help you explore your own unique strengths and understand how believing in yourself can truly unlock your potential. We'll have some discussions, do some personal reflection, and even a fun activity."
"Let's start with a quick warm-up. I want you to think about something you've done recently that made you feel proud. It doesn't have to be a huge achievement – maybe you finally understood a tricky math problem, helped a friend, or even just stuck with a difficult task. Take about 30 seconds to think. Then, turn to a partner and share what you thought of."
Allow 2 minutes for Think-Pair-Share. Circulate and listen to conversations. Invite 1-2 pairs to share with the whole class.

Exploring Awesome Strengths
Teacher Says:
"Excellent shares! It's clear we all have things to be proud of. Now, let's dive deeper into what makes us awesome. We're going to look at some ideas from the book."
Show Slide 2: What Are Your Strengths?
"The book reminds us that strengths aren't just about getting good grades or being great at sports. They're about what you enjoy, what comes naturally to you, and what challenges you've overcome. Creativity, problem-solving, empathy, sense of humor—these are all incredible strengths!"
Show Slide 3: Battling the 'I Can't' Voice
"But what happens when that voice says 'I'm not good enough'? We all face self-doubt. It's normal, but it doesn't define us. Making mistakes is how we learn! Remember, your brain is like a muscle – the more you challenge it, the stronger it gets."
Show Slide 4: Embrace Your Unique You!
"And here's the big one: there's only ONE you! Your experiences and personality make you special. Don't compare your 'behind-the-scenes' to someone else's 'highlight reel'. What unique quality do you bring to the world?"
Transition to Journaling
"Now, let's take some time for personal reflection. I'm going to hand out the 'My Awesome Strengths Journal'. Think about the prompts and list some of your strengths. Don't hold back – this is just for you. You'll have about 5 minutes."
