CHECKUP ASSESSMENT
Question 1: What does "yet" help you remember?
Correct Answer: C) You can and will learn it soon!
Reasoning: The word "yet" is about the process of learning. It acknowledges that skills aren't stuck (fixed) and that with time and effort, mastery is possible. Choice A suggests mastery is already there, and Choice B is a fixed mindset thought.
Question 2: Which sentence shows a Growth Mindset?
Correct Answer: B) "I can't draw animals... yet!"
Reasoning: Adding "yet" transforms a negative "I can't" statement into a statement of possibility. Choice A is a fixed mindset. Choice C describes a feeling/preference, which doesn't necessarily relate to one's belief in their ability to grow.
Question 3: Helping your brain grow
Correct Answer: Any phrase including "yet."
Examples:
"I can't do this yet !"
"I'm learning this, I just don't know it yet ."
"My brain is growing, so I'll get it yet !"
Reasoning: The core lesson is that the word "yet" reframes difficulty as temporary. Students should demonstrate that they can use this word to turn a challenge into a learning opportunity.
