Power Station Poster
Superpower Station
Scan your inner systems & check your charge level below!
ZONE 01
Fully Charged
Feels like: Focused, strong, excited, and ready to fly! Your super-battery is operating at peak capacity.
Recommended Action:
Help a teammate, tackle a tough quest, or share your high energy!
ZONE 02
Glitching
Feels like: Wiggly, distracted, anxious, or silly. Your power level is shifting up and down.
Recommended Action:
Take three slow "anchor breaths," stretch your super-suit, or ask for a quiet fidget toy so it doesn't distract others.
ZONE 03
Power Saver
Feels like: Sad, tired, slow, or lonely. Your backup generators are running at low charge.
Recommended Action:
Get a glass of cool water, read quietly in the Calming Zone, or ask for a supportive check-in.
ZONE 04
Overheated
Feels like: Mad, frustrated, overwhelmed, or out of control. System failure imminent!
Recommended Action:
Step away to the Calming Zone, request a time-out, or use a somatic heavy-work release.
Daily Check-In Protocol:
Find your hero token, check your internal power grid, and place your token in the corresponding quadrant. You can change your zone at any point during your heroic shifts!

The Power Station Metaphor
By reframing emotions as physical "battery levels" and "internal system status," students bypass the shame or vocabulary blocks associated with complex emotional states. It normalizes having low charge or "glitching" systems as temporary states that can be resolved with correct strategies.
Daily Check-In Routine
Step 1: Arrival Scan
As students enter, they place their token on the Power Grid Poster matching their baseline charge level.
Step 2: Morning Huddle
Quickly review grid layout. "I see some heroes are glitching. Let's do an anchor breath together before the mission."
Step 3: Midday Diagnostics
Allow students to quietly shift their token if their energy zones change (e.g., after recess or test pressure).
Hero Zone Response Matrix
| Zone & Color | Emotional Translation | Immediate Teacher Action / Prompt |
|---|
| 💚 Zone 01: Fully Charged | Focused, content, confident, energetic. Ready to learn. | Assign leadership roles. "You have great battery level! Can you support your crew today?" |
| 💛 Zone 02: Glitching | Silly, wiggly, overstimulated, anxious, slightly hyperactive. | Guide physical centering. "Your circuits look a bit wiggly. Let's do a 4-second anchor hold or ask for a quiet fidget toy." |
| 💙 Zone 03: Power Saver | Tired, lonely, sad, sick, withdrawn. Low focus potential. | Offer low-stakes checking. "Low battery is totally normal. Do you need five minutes in our Calming Zone?" |
| ❤️ Zone 04: Overheated | Angry, frustrated, yelling, defensive. Out of sensory control. | De-escalate immediately. "System warning! Let's go to the Calming Zone. No questions right now." |
Reinforcing Self-Regulation
1. Praise the Shift, Not Just the Green Zone
Make a big deal of emotional growth. Praise students when they accurately transition from Yellow or Red down to Green: "Incredible self-regulation! I saw you moved your system back to 100%!"
2. Normalizing the "Power-Saving" Mode
Remind students that superhero gears have limits. A low battery is not "bad" or punishable — it's just a signal that the student needs a specific strategy to recover balance.
