Big Goal? Take Small Steps!
The Golden Rule
Too High to Reach?
Sometimes a goal is so big it feels scary or hard, like jumping to the top of a mountain in one huge leap!
"I want to read a whole chapter book today!" (Too big!)
Use Star Steps!
We break that giant goal into 5 little steps—one for each school day. Easy, fun, and manageable!
"I will read 2 beautiful pages every day after lunch!" (Perfect!)

5 Min
Guided Goal Brainstorm
Pass out trackers. Write easy starters on the board: "Tie shoes", "Clean desk", "Share toys". Guide kids to write/draw their daily steps.
Questioning Prompts
Ask students:
"What is a little tricky at school right now?"
"If your goal is [book], what is step one on Monday?"
"Can you finish that step in 5 minutes?"
Common Misconceptions
Watch out for:
Vague Goals: "Be good." Help them refine: "Keep my desk clean."
Over-ambition: "Read 10 books daily." Guide: "Read 2 pages daily."
Weekly Routine
Mon Launch
Set goals & write daily steps on tracker.
Tue-Thu Tick
End of day check-in (3m). Color in stars.
Fri Celebrate

Differentiation Tips
Kindergarten: Draw inside roadmap rows instead of writing. Use smiley stickers when completed.
Grade 2: Challenge them to start each day's task with an action verb (e.g., "Sort", "Read").
