Select a color wavelength around you:
-
- Pick one color (e.g., Orange, Neon Green, Purple).
-
- Search the room to find 5 objects of that color.
-
- Stare at each object for 3 seconds.
-
- Close your eyes and visualize that color glowing.
Breathe out slowly as you release the color visual.

HIGH-FIDELITY VISUAL
Close eyes or look at your hand. Render a space:
-
- Imagine a place of 100% peace (beach, deep forest, cozy room, empty field).

STATUS_OVERLOAD_99%
THE "AMYGDALA" HIJACK
When stress, anger, or worry hits, your brain's alarm system locks up the control panel.
Your heart rate spikes, your focus drops, and your rational thoughts crash. It feels like an uncontrollable glitch.
CPU Spike (Body)
Shaky hands, rapid breathing, heavy chest
Memory Leak (Brain)
Spinning thoughts, blank screens, low focus

MIND HACK : LESSON GUIDE
DOC_ID: TEACH_GUIDE_1.4
Grades 6–8 • Pacing: 45 Min
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- • Explain the neuroscience of the amygdala hijack ("system glitch").
- • Differentiate and practice 4 evidence-based self-regulation modalities.
- • Construct a personal keyring-ready coping deck for classroom use.
MATERIALS NEEDED
- Printed Mind Hack Deck sheets (1 per student)
- Scissors, glue sticks, and 1-hole hand punches
- Lamination sheets (optional but highly recommended)
- 1" metal binder rings (or yarn/zip ties)
SYSTEM EXECUTION : TIMELINE TOTAL: 45 MINUTES
| PHASE | PACING | FACILITATOR PROTOCOL |
|---|
| 1. System Boot | 00–10 min | Deliver Slides 1–2. Define the "Amygdala Hijack" and normalization of feeling dysregulated or anxious in school. |
| 2. Module Drills | 10–25 min | Walk through the 4 Hack categories using the slides. Actively guide students through the live group practices. |
| 3. Commissioning | 25–40 min | Distribute the printed cards. Direct students to cut, fold, paste/laminate, hole-punch, and thread onto keyring. |
| 4. Sync Complete | 40–45 min | Reflection and commit. Students choose their #1 favorite hack card to display on the outside of their ring. |
DELIVERING THE "AMYGDALA HIJACK" TO MIDDLE SCHOOLERS
The Problem: Middle schoolers reject overly clinical or juvenile discussions about self-regulation. To secure buy-in, frame emotional dysregulation as a structural hardware/software issue in the nervous system—not a personal failing.
RECOMMENDED SCRIPT:
"Think of your brain like a high-performance computer. Your prefrontal cortex—your rational thinking brain—is the main web browser where you do homework, hang out, and make decisions. But when you get stressed, embarrassed, or angry, a tiny alarm chip inside your brain called the amygdala takes over. It hogs 99% of your CPU power, freezes your tabs, and crashes your browser. That's a system glitch. Today, we aren't going to talk about 'calming down'. We are going to teach you how to write code overrides to force-quit that glitch and get your system back online."
