Warm-Up: The Emotion Engine
5 Minutes
Teacher Action
Gather students on the rug in a circle. Hold up the Mood Meter Check-In . Point to each colored quadrant/face to establish a visual baseline.
Say (Word-for-Word Script):
"Good morning, my feeling explorers! Welcome to our special circle. Today, we have some special visitors coming to visit us. They are called the Feeling Faces ! Inside our bodies, we have all kinds of energy and feelings that show up on our outside. Right now, look at my face... what do you think I am feeling?"
Show a bright, wide smile. Wait for students to call out "Happy!" or "Glad!".
"That's right, I'm happy! Our faces and bodies show how we feel on the inside so others can understand us. Today, we're going to learn about four big feelings we all have! Let's get our feeling muscles ready!"

Guided Practice: Emotion Charades
5 Minutes
Teacher Action
Show students the Emotion Charades Cards . Draw one card yourself first to demonstrate. Act out the feeling using only your face and body cues (no sounds!). Have the class shout out the answer.
"Okay, little actors! Now we are going to play a game called Emotion Charades . I will choose a secret card and use my body and face to act it out. No talking allowed! Let's see if you can guess my feeling. Ready? Look at my body..."
Cross arms tightly, stomp foot gently, squeeze eyes together, frown. Allow students to guess "MAD!"
"Bingo! You saw my crossed arms and stomping feet, which are perfect clues for MAD! Now, I need some brave volunteers to come up, pick a secret card from my hand, and act it out for the whole class!"

Independent Work: Color the Feeling
5 Minutes
Teacher Action
Dismiss students to their tables. Distribute the Color Feeling Worksheet and crayons. Encourage students to identify each feeling outline and match it to its feeling color.
"Now, skip back to your tables like happy frogs! We are going to use our special feeling colors. Grab your crayons! Find the Happy face and give it a bright yellow smile. Color each box based on the feeling colors we learned on our slides!"
5
Reflect & Share Circle
5 Minutes
Teacher Action
Signal cleanup (e.g., chime or light flick). Have students bring their finished Color Feeling Worksheet back to the circle and place it in front of them. Let students mirror feelings with partners.
"Crisp-cross applesauce! Look at all your bright worksheets. Turn to your shoulder partner and show them your best SCARED face!... Now show them your best HAPPY face!... Remember explorers, all of these feelings are normal and okay to feel. We can always look at someone's face and body to know how to help them!"
Pro-Tips for Kinder Success
Differentiation: Support
If a student struggles during Charades, allow them to make the feeling's noise or look directly at a Feeling Card for a modeling prompt.
Differentiation: Extension
Ask early finishers to draw *why* a character might be feeling that way inside their Playbook drawing bubbles.
