10 Minutes
Introduction: The First Impression
Kick off with a "Bad Interview" skit or video. Ask students to identify 3 things that went wrong. Bridge to the concept that an interview is a "commercial for your skills."
Key Discussion: Why do employers interview if they already have your resume?
20 Minutes
The Power of Prep: Research & Role
Students select a hypothetical job (from a provided list or their own interest). Using the Interview Prep Worksheet , they research the company mission, values, and 3 key skills required for the role.
Teacher Tip: Circulate and help students translate "About Us" pages into interview talking points.
20 Minutes
The STAR Method Workshop
Introduce the STAR Method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Students draft responses to "Tell me about a time you overcame a challenge" on their worksheets.
Instruction: Emphasize the "Result"—what was the outcome? How did you improve?
30 Minutes
Mock Interview Rotations
Pair students up. 15 minutes per round. Round 1: Student A is Interviewer, Student B is Candidate. Switch for Round 2. Use the Peer Feedback Rubric for evaluation.
Professionalism Focus: Eye contact, handshake (or nod), active listening, and posture.
10 Minutes
Reflection & Debrief
Full class discussion: What was the hardest question? What did you notice about your own body language? What is one goal for your next real interview?
Differentiation
For EL Students: Provide sentence starters for the STAR method and common interview questions. For Advanced Learners: Introduce the "Elevator Pitch" concept as a way to answer "Tell me about yourself."
Extension
Have students record their mock interview using a phone and watch it back to critique their non-verbal communication (filler words, fidgeting).

What is an Interview?
It's a Business Meeting
It is not an interrogation. It is a two-way conversation to see if the candidate and company are a mutual fit.
The Ultimate Goal

Know Your "Customer"
The Mission
What does the company do? What do they stand for? Why do they exist?
The Problem
What skills are they asking for? What is their biggest need right now?
The Vibe
Formal? Modern? Casual? Match your energy to their culture.
It's Not Just What You Say...
Eye Contact

Posture
Sit up straight. Don't slouch.
