Understanding Feelings
All My Feelings Are Okay
Feelings are like weather
No emotion is too big or wrong!
When someone we love dies, our hearts can hold a lot of different emotions at once. Sometimes we feel sad, sometimes angry, sometimes tired, and sometimes even happy when we think of warm memories. All of these feelings are completely normal and okay.
What does your heart feel like right now? (Color in your weather)
Sunny & Calm
Rainy & Sad
Stormy & Mad
Cloudy & Confused
Overwhelmed
Where Do Your Feelings Hide?
Sometimes our bodies feel emotions before our minds even notice. Color in the boxes below to build your Feeling Key, then color where you feel them on the body shape!

Gentle Calming Exercises
Finding calm in your cozy heart
When emotions start to feel overwhelming, we can use our breath and imagination to help find a quiet, calm moment. Let’s practice a beautiful trace-breathing trick and make a special treasure box for your memories.
Trace-and-Breathe Calming Hand
START
Trace your physical hand, too!
How to do 5-Finger Breathing:
- Place your left hand open like a star on the desk or use the picture.
- Take your right pointer finger and place it at the bottom of your thumb (the START spot).
- Trace UP your thumb and breathe in slowly through your nose.
- Trace DOWN the other side and breathe out slowly.
- Keep tracing up and down every finger, feeling your body slow down and relax.
My Cozy Heart Pocket
Your grandparent's love and the special lessons they shared are yours to keep forever. Write or draw 2 things you want to keep locked safe inside your beautiful heart pocket.
♥ SAFE KEEPING ♥
💡 Tip for Home: If you feel super sad later today, look back at your lovely drawings on Page 1 or do your 5-Finger Breathing. You are so strong, and your feelings are always cared for!
