Quest
What do YOU See?
"What's something you and Groot might see totally differently, even if you're looking at the exact same thing?"
What is "Perspective"?
It's how YOU see the world!
Your unique point of view.
Shaped by experiences & feelings.
Everyone sees missions differently!
🔭
Just like Rocket, Gamora, and Star-Lord don't always agree on a plan.
Why Does it Matter?
Communicate Better
Avoid misunderstandings—especially when Drax takes things too literally!
Solve Problems
Find solutions that work for the whole team, not just one Guardian.
Build Connections
Understand friends and family like the Guardians learn to trust each other.
Perspective Detective
1
WHAT
do they see/believe? (Opinion, feeling, or thought)
2
WHY
do they see it that way? (Past experiences or feelings)
3
WHAT NEXT?
What might they do because of their perspective?
Detective Example
Rocket sees junk as parts for an invention (WHAT) because he is an inventor (WHY), so he takes it apart (WHAT NEXT).
Guardian Challenge
"Who Took the Orb of Zarg?"
A valuable Orb goes missing from the ship.
Star-Lord is furious , yelling at Rocket: "You always mess with my stuff!"
? WHAT is Star-Lord's perspective?
? WHY does he see it that way?
? WHAT might he do next?

Groot's Viewpoint Quest
Part 1: The Groot Groove
Slide 1 • 5 Mins
Teacher Says:
"Hey there! Welcome to our 'Groot's Viewpoint Quest' session today. We're going to embark on an adventure into understanding something super important in life, and in the galaxy: perspectives ."
Teacher Says:
"What's something you and Groot might see totally differently, even if you're looking at the exact same thing? Think about what Groot values—like plants, friends, or maybe dancing! For example, if you saw a pile of dirt, you might think it's just dirt. But what might Groot see?"
Action:
Wait for student response. Acknowledge their creativity and transition to the next slide.
Part 2: Perspective Defined
Slides 2-4 • 10 Mins
Teacher Says (Slide 2):
"Perspective is simply your unique point of view. It's how you see the world, shaped by your experiences, your feelings, and the information you have. Rocket sees a broken spaceship as a puzzle to fix; Star-Lord sees it as a broken ride!"
Teacher Says (Slide 3):
"Why is this a superpower? Because it helps you communicate better, solve problems that work for everyone, and build stronger connections. It helps you relate to people even if you don't agree with them."
Teacher Says (Slide 4):
"We use three clues: WHAT they feel/believe, WHY they feel it (past/feelings), and WHAT NEXT (what they might do). Like Rocket with a pile of junk—he sees parts (What), because he's an inventor (Why), so he starts taking it apart (What Next)."
Part 3: Guardian Challenge
Slide 5 • 10 Mins
Teacher Says:
"Imagine the Orb of Zarg goes missing. Star-Lord is yelling at Rocket. Let's think: WHAT is Star-Lord's perspective? What is he thinking or feeling right now?"
Prompting:
If the student is stuck, ask: "Look at his body language. Is he happy or angry? Who does he think took the orb?"
Teacher Says:
"Excellent! Now, WHY does he see it that way? Has Rocket touched his stuff before? And finally, knowing how he feels, WHAT might he do next?"
Part 4: Mission Wrap-Up
Slides 6-7 • 5 Mins
Teacher Says:
"You've got this, Detective! Now it's your turn to handle a few cases on your own. Remember to look for the What, Why, and What Next. I'll be here if you need a backup Guardian!"
Teacher Says (Conclusion):

WHAT NEXT? (Prediction of his action)

Perspective Power-Up Answer Key Answer Key
Perspective Power-Up: Guardian Edition
Note: Perspectives can have slightly different interpretations. These are model answers that align with the core idea of the characters.
Scenario 1: The Last Zarg-Nut
What
Rocket is likely feeling angry, frustrated, and disrespected. He thinks Drax is insensitive and that his own boundaries were violated.
Why
Rocket often feels overlooked and has a history of being possessive of his things. He had an expectation (saving the snack) that went unmet.
Next
Rocket might immediately yell at Drax, call him names, or plan a revenge prank (like stealing something of Drax's) later.
Scenario 2: Gamora's Secret Mission
What
Star-Lord is feeling suspicious and worried. He thinks Gamora is being "sneaky" and assumes she is stealing from the ship.
Why
He knows Gamora's complicated past and is generally protective of his ship. He has been in situations before where items were stolen.
Next
Star-Lord might aggressively confront Gamora, demand to know what she is "stealing," or alert the other Guardians.
Scenario 3: Groot's New Sapling
What
Drax is focused on the mission's logic and efficiency. He thinks the plant is a distraction and a waste of resources.
Why
Drax is literal and prioritizes survival as a warrior. He doesn't grasp the emotional depth of Groot's connection to plants.
Next
Drax will likely continue to argue against keeping it or try to convince Groot to leave it behind for the sake of the mission.
Scenario 4: The Prank Gone Wrong
What
Mantis is feeling deeply embarrassed and professional distress. She is worried about looking unprofessional for the diplomatic meeting.
Why
She is gentle and empathetic, and she takes her diplomatic duties seriously. To her, this is a public humiliation.
Next
Mantis might rush off to clean herself, express her distress to another Guardian, or gently confront Rocket about the prank.
Perspective Check Cool Down Mission Debrief
Cool Down: Perspective Check
Detective:
Stardate:
1
Thinking like a Guardian: In your own words, what does it mean to understand someone else's "perspective"?
2
Groot-sized feelings: Imagine Groot is upset because Rocket accidentally stepped on a flower he was growing. What might be WHY Groot is upset?
3
Future Actions: If a friend is acting very quiet and isn't joining in on a game they usually love, what is ONE THING they might do next, based on their quiet perspective?
