A Part 1: Instructional Sequence (Minutes 0 - 15)
8m
1. Warm-Up & Chorus/Gestures Modeling Whole Group
Gather students on the carpet in a circle. Introduce the emotional physical states. Use the Lyrics & Gestures Slides to model the chorus and the four key emotion feelings/movements:
😊 Happy: Big smile, open arms
😢 Sad: Rub eyes, droop shoulders
😡 Angry: Cross arms, stomp feet once
🤩 Excited: Jump, hands near cheeks
Teacher Tip: Practice transitioning quickly between emotions to build physical listening skills.
7m
2. Small-Group Rehearsal Stations Rotations
Divide students into four small "Emotion Groups" based on the cards they are handed (Happy Group, Sad Group, Angry Group, Excited Group).
Give each group their corresponding large Prop Emotion Card .
Have them stand in dedicated learning corners ("Rehearsal Stations").
Ask co-teachers/aides (or lead with call-and-response) to prompt each station to practice their specific verse's lyric and movement 3 times.
Scaffolding: If students struggle with the physical gesture, ask them to make the facial expression first, then add the body movement.

B Part 2: Instructional Sequence (Minutes 15 - 30)
8m
3. Whole-Class Sing-and-Act Performance Showcase
Transition students back to the carpet. It's time for the Showcase! Bring up one emotion group at a time to the front "stage" area.
Use the Performance Script with Cues to narrate and guide the showcase.
The showcase group holds up their Prop Emotion Card , singing and acting out their specific verse while the rest of the class sings along.
Switch groups efficiently so every group gets their turn on stage.
4m
4. Peer Applause & Kind Feedback Social Reflection
Teach students how to be a supportive audience. After each performance, lead the class in a choreographed round of applause:
"Clap, Clap, Sparkle!" (Clap twice, then stretch hands out and wiggle fingers toward the performers while saying, "Great job!")
Ask 1-2 audience members to share one positive thing they saw: "I loved how big their smiles were!" or "They stomped very clearly!"
3m
5. Closing Circle Share Wrap Up
Have everyone sit back in a complete circle. Pass a small soft ball or toy to serve as the "Share Token". Each student who holds it briefly shares:
"My favorite feeling to act out today was ________ because ________."
Collect the prop emotion cards and congratulate the students on completing their feelings showcase.
Instructional Differentiation & Assessment
Support Strategies:
Use one-on-one hand-over-hand physical guidance if a student has motor coordination challenges.
Focus entirely on facial expressions for students who have limited mobility.
Extension Strategies:
Ask advanced students to describe a time they felt that emotion.
Invite them to lead a group as the "Emotion Conductor".
