Instructional Steps
1
Warm-Up: How Do You Feel? (5 min)
• Begin by asking students to share one word that describes how they are feeling today. Encourage varied vocabulary (calm, sleepy, curious).
• Briefly discuss how feelings can change throughout the day. Use Slide 1-2 to guide this opening discussion.
2
Introducing Emotions (7 min)
• Use Slides 3-5 to introduce basic emotions: happy, sad, angry, surprised, scared, and calm.
• Discuss: What does each emotion look like? How does it feel in our bodies? What are common triggers?
• Key Message: All emotions are okay! The goal is to express them in healthy ways.
3
Activity: Fortune Tellers (13 min)
• Distribute templates, scissors, and coloring tools.
• Follow Slides 6-9 for step-by-step folding instructions. Model each fold at the front of the room.
• Content: Students write emotions inside flaps and a "Coping Strategy" underneath (e.g., Angry → Take deep breaths).
4
Share & Close (5 min)
• Use Slide 10 to facilitate a quick "Share-Out."
• Let students test their fortune tellers with a neighbor. Conclude by reiterating that they now have a tool for their "Emotions Toolkit."
