1
The Secret Path (Hook - 5 min)
Ask students to close their eyes and imagine walking into a magical forest. The trees don't just have leaves; they have feelings . Explain that today, we are "Feeling Forest Rangers" learning to understand the trees.
2
Tree Spotting (Direct Instruction - 15 min)
Use the Feeling Forest Slides to introduce the four main "Forest Zones":
The Sad Willow: Droopy branches, blue leaves, "heavy" or "slow" feelings.
The Angry Oak: Rigid trunk, red spikes, "hot" or "tight" feelings.
The Calm Meadow: Soft grass, green swaying leaves, "light" or "steady" feelings.
The Busy Berry Bush: Bright yellow berries, vibrating branches, "sparkly" or "wiggly" feelings.
3
Sensation Seeds (Activity - 15 min)
Distribute the Sensation Sorting Activity . Students will cut out "Sensation Seeds" (e.g., "Sweaty Palms," "Quiet Heart," "Lump in Throat") and glue them onto the matching tree that represents that feeling.
4
Planting My Tree (Application - 10 min)
Students complete the My Emotion Tree Worksheet . They draw a tree that represents how they feel right now and label where in their body they feel it.
Ranger Debrief Questions
"Can a tree be an Angry Oak and a Sad Willow at the same time? Why?"
"What kind of 'weather' helps a Sad Willow feel like a Calm Meadow again?"
"Where in your body do you feel 'The Busy Berry Bush' wiggles?"
