01 / SCREEN RESILIENCE
The Virtual
Mind Gym.
"School happens on screens. Stress happens in real life. We train our brains to disconnect from online anxiety and reclaim focus."
Energy Buffers
Quick resets to combat screen fatigue, physical stiffness, and zoom fatigue.
Off-Screen Sanctuary
Tactics to ground your body when digital inputs become completely overwhelming.

LAB SCENARIOS
02 / ONLINE STRESS LABS
SCENARIO A
The Zoom Mic Check
Your teacher says: "Let's unmute and get your feedback..." followed by your name. Your camera is off, you weren't looking at the tab, and your heart instantly starts racing.
Question: What physical somatic symptom hit you first?
SCENARIO B
The Screen Freeze
You're in the middle of submiting a high-stakes exam. Suddenly, your browser stops loading, the spinning wheel of death starts, and your home internet cuts completely out.
Question: Is this a high physical trigger or high mental trigger?
Virtual classrooms bring unique physical and mental stressors. Slide 3 of 7
AWARENESS
03 / SPOT DIGITAL SPARKS
What causes
your spikes?
Online learning requires high sensory processing. Spotting your specific digital fatigue elements keeps you from burning out.
Question: Do you struggle more with eye-fatigue or brain-drift?
Screen/Tech Sparks
Laggy connections
Audio echoes / cutouts
Too many open tabs
Home/Body Sparks
Sitting in one spot 6h+
Household background noise
Lack of real-world breaks
When you recognize screen sensory overload, you can mitigate it. Slide 4 of 7
CALIBRATION
04 / THE TEMPERATURE
Screen Overload Scale
Keep an eye on Level 3. That is your cue to do a quick off-screen look or breath cycle.
Catch it at 3!
1 Steady
Hydrated, clear eyes, high focus
2 Active
Working, processing data
3 Simmering
Drifting eyes, bouncing leg, clicking tabs
4 Fatigued
Dry eyes, tight neck, heavy frustration
5 Overloaded
Completely shutting browser, quitting tasks
Re-evaluate "The Zoom Mic Check" scenario. Where on this scale does it place you? Slide 5 of 7

05 / BIO-RESET LAB
Embedded media
Breath-along
Reset Your Autonomic Nervous System
Let's execute 4 breath cycles together with the visual bubble. Lower your shoulders, unclench your jaw.
Reflective Question:
How does breathing change the physical focus in your eyes and neck?
Breathe together. Mental fitness requires reps. Slide 6 of 7
DAILY PROTOCOL
06 / THE SHIELD
Your Off-Screen Shield
1
Scale your overload twice daily (Mid-morning & Afternoon)
2
Look away from screen for 20 seconds at level 3
3
Breathe: Implement 60 seconds of box breathing during transitions
Launch Lab
Pick up your Calm Control Lab Sheet. We are going to map your personal online sparks and build a specific screen-fatigue shield.

1. Online Stress Scenario Check
Consider your automatic responses to these virtual schooling triggers.
Scenario A: Zoom Mic Check
Teacher calls on you to unmute. Your camera is off, you weren't looking at the tab, and your heart races.
Your level (1–5) if this happened?
1 2 3 4 5
Scenario B: The Screen Freeze
Browser stops loading during a high-stakes exam. Spinning wheel shows and home internet cuts completely out.
Your level (1–5) if this happened?
1 2 3 4 5
Question: Which online scenario makes you feel more physically tight or anxious? Why?
2. My Digital Trigger Mapping
Screen & Browser Sparks:
Laggy connections or microphone feedback
Too many open tabs or confusing layouts
Suddenly having to speak on a live video
Home & Somatic Sparks:
Sitting in the exact same chair for 6+ hours
Household noise (pets, family speaking)
Dry eyes or screen headache
3. My Physical Alarms
Level 5 - Overload
Level 3 - Simmer
Level 1 - Steady
My Level 3 somatic warning flags (e.g. bouncy leg, tab-clicking):
My Level 5 response style (e.g. closing browser, shutting down):
4. Reset Practice Log
Grounding Strategy Used:
5-4-3-2-1 Sensory
Box Breathing
Overload level BEFORE resetting: _____ / 5
Physical Status Shift: Did your hands relax or dry eyes recover?

Skill Target Screen Fatigue / Grounding
Active Objectives
Students will evaluate emotional responses using high-impact online school scenarios, map screen-based triggers, calibrate sensory overload signs, and practice virtual box-breathing bio-resets.
Part 1: De-stigmatize & Frame (Slides 1 & 2)
Slides 1-2
Virtual Mind Gym Concept (4 mins)
Introduce focus as an active athletic skill. Explain that screen schooling requires high mental energy, and we need specific bio-hacking tools to keep from hitting sensory exhaustion.
"Script: We spend hours looking at browsers. Today we are setting up our daily screen shields to keep our stress batteries charged."
Part 2: Zoom & Connection Scenarios (Slide 3)
Slide 3
Analyzing Online Panic (10 mins)
Explore Scenario A (Zoom Mic Check) and Scenario B (The Screen Freeze) . Instruct students to use chat box or digital stamps to choose their responses. Note somatic indicators like neck flush or tight chest.
"Question: When you're called on Zoom and weren't paying attention, what is the exact physical reaction you feel in your shoulders?"
Active Lab Work: Have students pull up their digital or printed Calm Control Lab Sheet. Have them fill out Section 1 to grade their reaction scale (1-5).
Part 3: Screen Sparks (Slide 4)
Slide 4
Digital Sparks & Fatigue (6 mins)
Explore how open tabs and family background noise stack on top of dry eyes. Distinguish between tech-induced triggers and body-induced fatigue.
Lab Integration: Students check their top screen and physical sparks on Section 2 of their sheet. Have them share via digital whiteboard sticky notes.

Part 4: Scaling & Active Video Practice (Slides 5 & 6)
Slide 5
Overload Scale Calibration (5 mins)
Highlight Level 3 (Simmering—clicking tabs, dry eye scratching). Tell students that a Level 3 reset prevents the automatic brain-freeze of Levels 4 and 5.
Lab Integration: Students record personal signals for Level 3 and Level 5 on Section 3 of the lab sheet.
Slide 6
Live Video Breathing Lab (10 mins)
Play the embedded YouTube Box Breathing visual helper slide. Have everyone follow the breathing sphere together. Instruct students to sit up straight, drop their shoulders, and lock eyes with the expanding shape.
