Today's Mission: Master your Cool-Down Power and become a trusted friend!
Let's Begin ➔
Step 1: Detective Work
What Happens Inside Your Body?
Body Clues
Clenched Fists
Hands ball up tight and want to push or grab.
Hot Cheeks
Face gets red, warm, or feels like a boiling kettle.
Racing Heart
Chest beats thump-thump-thump super fast.
Buzzing Brain
Thoughts move too quickly and it feels hard to think.
Coach Question: Which clue happens to you first when you get frustrated?
The Golden Rule
Feelings vs. Actions
Important Truth
ALL FEELINGS ARE OKAY
It is 100% normal to feel:
Mad when a game doesn't go your way
Frustrated when someone takes a toy
Annoyed when someone doesn't listen
Feeling mad does NOT make you a bad kid!
HITTING IS NEVER OKAY
When we hit or push:
It hurts other people's bodies and feelings
Friends feel unsafe and don't want to play
It doesn't solve the problem at all
Safe hands keep friendships strong and safe!
"I can be as mad as a volcano, but my hands stay safe and calm!"
Superpower Moves
The 3-Step Power Pause
3 Fast Steps
1
STEP BACK
Freeze your feet. Take two steps back from the other person so your hands are far away.
Action: Put hands in pockets or tuck under arms.
2
COOL DOWN
Take 3 deep Balloon Breaths: Inhale through your nose, slowly blow out the birthday candle.
Action: Breathe in for 4, breathe out for 4.
3
TALK OR TELL
Use strong, calm words to explain what you need, or find an adult coach for help right away.
Action: Say "I don't like that" or ask teacher.
Practice Time: Let's do Step 1 and Step 2 right now together!
Power Talk
Use Words Instead of Hands
Word Shields
When someone grabs your toy
Instead of snatching or pushing:
"I am still playing with that. You can have it in 3 minutes."
When someone cuts in line
Instead of shoving them back:
"The line starts behind me. Please go to the back."
When a friend says something mean
Instead of swinging a fist:
"I don't like words like that. I'm going to play over here."
When your body feels like exploding
Instead of acting out:
"I need a 2-minute break in the calm corner."
Strong kids use strong words — hands stay calm and in control!
