Facilitation Script
Introduction:
"Class, raise your hand if you've ever wanted to do something fun, but then it didn't happen. Maybe a trip was cancelled, or you didn't get the toy you wanted. That feeling in your tummy—that's called disappointment."
Validation:
"Is it bad to feel sad? No! It's actually very normal. Even adults feel disappointed. Today, we are going to learn how to be 'Bounce Back' experts."
Action Step:
"When we feel disappointed, we can acknowledge the feeling, take a breath, and then choose a 'Next Step.' We are going to use our activity sheet to practice this."
Activity Guide
1. Finish the Face
Encourage students to draw the eye, half-mouth, and ear. Use this to discuss facial expressions of sadness.
2. Word Search
While they find words, ask: 'Which one of these do you like best? Talking to a friend or taking a deep breath?'
3. What's Next?
This is the 'Solution' box. Students should draw a new activity they can do when the first plan fails.
Pro-Tip:
If a student gets stuck on the word search, tell them 'WAIT' and 'TALK' are on the edges!
