Pillar 1
Cool, Calm & In Control
🔋

🌬️
2. Hit the Reset Button
Try 3 deep box breaths, sip some water, stretch, or use a calm fidget tool.
✋
3. Signal for a Pit Stop
Ask with confidence: "Can I take 2 mins to reset?"
🔄
4. Fresh Starts Only
Big feelings don't last forever. Shake it off, forgive yourself, and rejoin the team!
💡 Self-Talk Power Hack
"It's totally okay to feel angry. It's never okay to be mean."
🤝
Pillar 2
Respect The Crew
👂
1. Lock In & Listen
Eyes up, ears open. No interrupting, side-eyeing, or laughing when someone shares.
🛡️
2. Guard Personal Bubbles
Hands to yourself, ask before borrowing gear, and stop the second someone says "no."
💬
3. Talk It Out, Don't Shout
Use "I" words: "I felt left out when that happened."
🛠️
4. Own It & Fix It
A real apology means: admit what went wrong, say sorry, and help make things right.
⚡ The Golden Crew Rule
"Solve the problem together—never attack the person."

WHEN TO ACT
Recognize Warning Signs
Imminent Danger (Tier 1)
Talking about wanting to die, disappear, or "end it all."
Looking for ways/means to self-harm or hurt themselves.
Giving away sports gear, prized items, or saying goodbyes.
Sudden inexplicable calm after a deep depressive spell.
Warning Flags (Tier 2)
Dramatic drop in effort, attendance, or locker room isolation.
Overwhelming statements of worthlessness or guilt.
Severe agitation, rage, reckless risk-taking, or substance abuse.
Signs of self-inflicted injuries (cuts, burns, hidden bruises).
⚡ Never dismiss talk of suicide as "drama" or "seeking attention."
2
WHAT TO DO & SAY
Field Intervention Steps
1. Never Leave Alone
Move player to a quiet, private office. Keep physical presence at all times.
2. Ask Directly & Clearly
"Are you thinking about suicide?"
(Asking directly does NOT plant the idea).
3. Secure the Area
Discreetly remove access to medication, bags, sharp objects, or athletic gear.
4. Do NOT Promise Secrecy
"I care about you too much to keep this a secret. We will get support together."
Avoid: "You have so much to live for" or "Be strong." Validate pain instead.
