Activity Overview (5 mins): Explain that today features two distinct, independent tasks: an online FCCLA fact hunt and an personal slide deck.
Tier 1 (First Teach) Core Instruction: Modeling & Guided Practice:

Deliverable 1: The FCCLA 10-Fact Web Quest: Students explore the national site and record exactly 10 core facts on their handout or shared Google Doc.
Deliverable 2: "About Me" Google Slides: Students independently draft and construct a 4-slide presentation detailing background, interests, and career goals.
Embedded Tier 2 (Second Teach) Supports:

Distribute structural slide frameworks and bullet point templates to assist students with organization.
Exit Ticket/Closing:
Reflective Summary (10 mins): Students complete an exit slip detailing: "Which of the 10 FCCLA facts you learned today surprised you the most, and why?"

TEKS Alignment:
Principles of Human Services, §130.272 (c)(1)(A): Apply interpersonal communication skills in professional and community settings.
Objective:
Students will deliver their independent "About Me" Google Slides presentations demonstrating professional posture, eye contact, and vocal clarity, and evaluate peers using a constructive peer feedback matrix.
Welcome/Launch:
Hook (10 mins): "The 10-Second Impression." Walk into the room, stand up straight, smile, and make strong eye contact with three students without saying a word. Ask: "What silent signals told you I was ready, confident, and professional?" Connect this to the power of presentation presence.
Presentation Expectations (5 mins): Set a positive, supportive "growth mindset" classroom culture. Remind students that public speaking is an essential CTSO leadership skill developed through practice.
Tier 1 (First Teach) Core Instruction: Modeling & Guided Practice:
Vocal and Posture Modeling (10 mins): Model "Bad vs. Good" delivery. Demonstrate read-from-the-slide delivery, mumbling, and poor posture, followed immediately by strong projection, natural gestures, and referencing slides only as guides.
Peer Review Modeling (10 mins): Project a sample feedback form. Model writing constructive comments (e.g., "Great slide transitions, try to slow down your delivery on the final slide" ) rather than unhelpful praise ("It was good" ).
Tier 1 (First Teach) Application & Practice with Embedded Tier 2 Supports:
Students present their slides independently while peers practice active listening:
Deliverable 1: "About Me" Presentation: Each student presents their 4-slide project in 2-3 minutes. Slides must display visuals; speech must be spoken, not read directly from the screen.
Deliverable 2: Peer Feedback Portfolio: Students in the audience are assigned specific peers to evaluate using a simple feedback form, noting one strength and one growth area.
Embedded Tier 2 (Second Teach) Supports:
Provide a handheld speaking "cue card" with a simple fill-in script (e.g., "Hello, my name is... and my community is..." ) to reduce high anxiety.
Allow high-anxiety students to record their presentation voice-over digitally or present to the teacher 1-on-1 during class transitions.
