Targeted practice helps socially and cognitively impaired Grade 6 learners build self-regulation, empathy, and effective conflict-resolution skills, reducing aggressive or avoidant responses.

Audience & Objective

Grade 6 (Tier 3 Individual)

Students will practice identifying the core problem and related feelings and generate two appropriate solutions.

Materials

Peer Conflict Scenario Cards (Set 1)
Feelings Chart Poster
Solution Brainstorm Worksheet
Conflict Game Cards
Token rewards or stickers

Teacher Prep

• Print and cut out Scenario & Game Cards.

• Display the Feelings Chart Poster clearly.

• Review student IEP goals for specific triggers.

• Prepare reward tokens for immediate reinforcement.

Delivery Guide

Time	Step	Activity Details
2 MIN	Warm-Up	Greet student and review feelings chart. Ask: “When might you feel this?” for 2-3 emotions. Praise/token for identification.
3 MIN	Discussion	Introduce a Set 1 Scenario Card. Ask: “What is the problem happening here?” and “How do you think they feel?”
3 MIN	Activity	Hand student a new card and the Solution Brainstorm Worksheet. Prompt: “Write/draw two ways you could solve this safely.”
2 MIN	Game	Quick round of Conflict Game Cards. Student names problem, feeling, and one solution. Give immediate praise and tokens.
