Warm-Up Activity: What Does It Mean?
Visual Cue:
Display Slide 1: Why Your Actions Speak Louder Than Words
SAY: "Good morning/afternoon, everyone! Today, we're going to talk about something really important that impacts our daily lives both in and out of school. Take a look at our lesson title: 'Why Your Actions Speak Louder Than Words.'"
"I want you to think about that phrase for a moment: 'Actions Speak Louder Than Words.' What do you think it means? If someone says one thing, but does another, which one do you believe? Can you think of a time when someone's actions showed you more than their words did?"
[Allow 2-3 students to share thoughts. Guide them to understand that true intentions are revealed through behavior.]
SAY: "Great examples! You're right, it's often what we do that truly communicates who we are and what we believe, even more than what we say."

Define and Discuss Key Concepts
Display Slide 2: Responsibility
SAY: "First up is Responsibility. When you are responsible, it means you are reliable and trustworthy. You do what you say you're going to do. Can anyone give me an example of showing responsibility in our classroom or at home?"
Display Slide 3: Accountability
SAY: "Closely related is Accountability. This means owning your mistakes. It's about taking responsibility when things go wrong and making an effort to fix problems you've caused. Why is it important to be accountable?"
Display Slide 4: Respect
SAY: "Next, we have Respect. This is about treating everyone with kindness, listening to different opinions, and appreciating differences. How does showing respect, or not showing respect, impact others?"
Display Slide 5: Digital Citizenship
SAY: "Finally, let's talk about Digital Citizenship. This means being a good online citizen. Using technology responsibly and being kind in online interactions. Why is it just as important to be respectful online as it is in person?"

SAY: "Now, you're going to put these concepts into practice. I'm going to divide you into small groups. Your task is to discuss your assigned scenario and answer: What is the problem? Which key concepts apply? What is a responsible course of action?"

Scenario 1: The Dropped Phone
During passing period, you see a classmate accidentally drop their phone near their locker. They don't notice and continue walking. You pick it up. You know this classmate sometimes says mean things about other students online, and you're annoyed by their comments. You could leave it, give it to a teacher, or you have it in your hand right now.
Scenario 2: The Group Project Mix-Up
Your history teacher assigns a big group project. You divide the work, and your part is due on Wednesday. On Tuesday night, you get caught up playing video games and completely forget to do your part. Now it's Wednesday morning, and your group members are asking for your section.
Scenario 3: The Online Chat
You are in a group chat with friends. One friend posts a picture of another classmate making a silly face, and everyone starts laughing and making fun of them. You know the classmate in the picture, and you wouldn't want someone making fun of you like that. You consider joining in because you don't want to seem "uncool" or be the only one who doesn't laugh.
