Tongue body pulls up and retracts toward the back throat wall. Tongue sides must hug the insides of the top upper molars (lateral bracing). Front blade stays relaxed and low.
Retroflex /r/ Production
Tongue tip curls gently backward toward the roof of the mouth behind the alveolar ridge (without touching). Lateral margins of the tongue still brace against upper teeth for stability.

3 Ways to Play in Therapy Sessions
Level 1: Word Drill
Caller shows card and reads target word. Student imitates and repeats word 3 times, focusing on lateral molar contact before marking square.
Level 2: Riddle Mystery
Caller reads only the riddle clue . Students must infer the target word, pronounce it clearly with target /r/, and scan their board.
Level 3: Carrier Phrase
Student uses the target word inside the provided practice sentence or generates their own sentence before placing their chip.
