I Can Follow Directions!
How I listen, learn, and shine every day in my classroom
In my classroom, there are so many fun things to learn, make, and do! When my teacher gives directions, they are helping me stay safe and succeed. Here is how I can be a Super Listener.
1 Step One
Stop and Look
When my teacher calls for attention, I freeze my hands and stop what I am doing. I turn my eyes toward the speaker right away.
My eyes are watching!
2 Step Two
Listen with My Whole Body
I turn on my listening ears and keep my mouth quiet. I listen to every word until the teacher is completely finished talking.
My voice is off and quiet!
3 Step Three
Think in My Brain
I repeat the steps in my mind: "First get supplies, then start work." If I do not understand, I raise my hand to ask for help politely.
I know what my job is!
4 Step Four
Do It Right Away
I begin my task right away without waiting or whining. Doing my job quickly gives me more time to finish and feel proud of my hard work.
I can get right to work!
Why Does Following Directions Matter?
When I follow directions the first time, our classroom is calm and safe. My teacher feels happy, my friends can focus, and I feel proud of myself because I am a dependable leader!
