Wilson Reading System Step 5.2: Multi-Syllabic Open Syllables
Instructional Overview
Step 5.2 introduces students to open syllables in words with more than one syllable. Students learn that when a vowel is at the end of a syllable, it is "open" and makes its long sound. This week focuses on the v/cv division pattern (e.g., ro-bot, tu-lip).
Key Rule
"If the syllable is open, the vowel says its name!"
