Intervention Goal: Support K-2 students struggling with out-of-seat/off-mat behavior to build spatial containment, physical stamina, and sensory self-regulation using designated spot boundaries and structured choice tools.
Session 1: Spot Power Intro
🎯 Learning Target:
I can identify my special spot in the classroom and explain my boundary bubble.
✓ Success Criteria:
Student colors their Spot Map and sits on their carpet square with body inside during story-time.
1. Explicit Modeling
"Look, I am sitting criss-cross on this square. See how my knees do not cross the tape? My body is safe, calm, and listening!"
2. Roleplay Action
Have students practice stepping onto their carpet square. Prompt: "Lock in your spot shield! Shh... click!"
3. Workbook & Schoolwide
Complete the Spot Map Handout . Help student glue the sheet to their workspace desk or mat.
💡 Anchor Chart Tip: Hang a poster showing "My Personal space Bubble: 100% inside!"
Session 2: Sticky Feet Stamina
🎯 Learning Target:
I can keep my feet gently glued to my spot while I sit tall and learn.
✓ Success Criteria:
Student sits or stands in spot for up to 3 minutes without feet crossing the boundary.
1. Explicit Modeling
"I am putting super-glue on my shoes. Plop! They are stuck! My feet are frozen, but my mind is active and my hands can write."
2. Roleplay Action
Praise glued postures. If student starts to step out, point gently and say: "Are your shoes glued? Check your feet!"
3. Workbook & Schoolwide
Use Sticky Feet Handout Page 1 for sorting, and Page 2's Stamina Meter during independent work intervals.
💡 Reinforcement: Issue a tiny droplet sticker on their hand to symbolize "foot-glue" power!

Lesson Plan 1
Learning Target
"I can find my designated classroom spot and explain what a personal boundary shield is."
Success Criteria
Student identifies their carpet square/tape, sits with bottom down, and keeps body parts inside boundaries.
1 The Hook & Concept Introduction (5 Mins)
Introduce the concept of the "Spot Champions Club" using Slide 1. Explain that every champion has a designated "Home Base" where their body feels calm, safe, and ready to complete activities.
2 Explicit Modeling ("I Do" Script - 5 Mins)
"Watch me walk over to my carpet square. Look at my bottom—it sits directly in the center. Now watch my knees... they stay inside the box! I have an invisible bubble around me. It keeps my books safe, and it keeps my neighbor's bubble safe too!"
3 Guided Practice & Roleplay ("We Do" - 10 Mins)
Have students stand. Direct them to step into their personal boundary area on cue. Say: "Find your spot... and step! Lock in your personal boundary shields!" Praise students whose bodies are entirely inside. Prompt self-check: "Are your knees or elbows leaking out? Fit them back in!"
4 Independent Workbook Activity ("You Do" - 10 Mins)
Distribute the Spot Map Handout . Have students trace their personal boundaries, write their names, and sign their first Spot Pledge. Help them tape this map directly onto their desk as a visual visual reminder.
Inclusion & Accommodation Tips
If a student struggles to identify their boundary, use brightly colored floor tape (e.g., neon blue) to outline a clear box on the floor around their desk or mat. This physical outline provides instant visual feedback!

Lesson Plan 2
Learning Target
"I can keep my shoes gently glued to my carpet square while sitting tall and working."
Success Criteria
Student sits in spot or stands inside desk boundary without feet crossing lines during independent tasks.
1 The Hook & Concept Introduction (5 Mins)
Introduce the concept of "Sticky Feet Superpower" . Ask students: "Have you ever stepped on a piece of sticky gum?" Let them share silly faces. Explain that our spot has magical, friendly super-glue that helps our feet stay stuck while we do excellent learning.
2 Explicit Modeling ("I Do" Script - 5 Mins)
"Watch me put my super-glue shoes on! Squeeeak... plop! Now I step onto my spot. Look, my hands can write, my head can nod, my shoulders can wiggle, but my feet are STUCK. Let me try to step away... Oh! I can't do it! My shoes are locked onto my safe base!"
3 Guided Practice & Roleplay ("We Do" - 10 Mins)
Have students stand. Direct them to step onto their spot map, shouting "Plop! Glued!" Practice progressive stamina drills: Set a physical timer for 1 minute. Direct students to sit quietly and read or draw. If they move their feet out, point gently and state: "Check your glue, are your shoes stuck?"
4 Stamina Tracking ("You Do" - 10 Mins)
Distribute Sticky Feet Handout . Complete Page 1 (posture classification) as a group. For Page 2, complete the Level 1 (1 min) and Level 2 (2 min) stamina drills during independent work blocks. Award stars immediately upon successful intervals.
Inclusion & Accommodation Tips
For high-energy students, tape a physical drawing of two shoes directly inside their boundary line. Have them place their physical shoes exactly over the paper shoes to provide a clear, tactile physical goal while sitting.

Lesson Plan 3
Learning Target
"I can choose an approved Wiggle Tool and use it safely without crossing my boundaries."
Success Criteria
Student selects an approved movement option and utilizes it productively during whole-group instruction.
1 The Hook & Concept Introduction (5 Mins)
Explain to students that "Wiggling is healthy!" Some bodies have extra physical energy, and we don't have to sit frozen like wooden blocks. Introduce the three Green-Light tools (Wiggle Seat, Bounce Band, Pacing Lane).
2 Explicit Modeling ("I Do" Script - 5 Mins)
"Look at my bumpy Wiggle Seat cushion! I put it right on my chair inside my tape line. When my bottom feels tired, I can tilt my hips left, right, up, down. See how my head is still up, my eyes look at my paper, and my feet stay glued? My wiggle cushion lets me move safely inside my bubble!"
3 Guided Practice & Roleplay ("We Do" - 10 Mins)
Conduct a **Wiggle Trial**. Have each student test the Wiggle Cushion on their chair for 2 minutes. Next, trial the Bounce Band: "Quietly press your shoes against the band. Feel that stretch? Great job!" Last, walk the pacing lane: "Walk silenty on the line back and forth, then slide right back to your seat!"
4 Independent Choice Preference ("You Do" - 10 Mins)
Distribute the Wiggle Zone Guide . Assist students in selecting their favorite tool from their trial, coloring the respective choice, and writing their preference sentence. Ensure their favorite tool is physically set up at their desk.
Inclusion & Accommodation Tips
Establish strict "Pacing Lane" rules: Only 1 student at a time, limited to 1 minute, with silent lips. If the pacing lane becomes a distraction, place a visual visual hourglass sand-timer at the station for self-regulated time-outs.

Active Play
🏁
Let's Play: Spot-Sitter Red Light!
This game makes building physical self-control super fun! We will practice responding instantly when our body is called to freeze, testing our "Sticky Feet" under pressure!
How to Play (Teacher Guide)
1. Setup the Arena
Ensure every student is at their designated carpet square or taped spot. The teacher stands at the front of the room holding the game cards (Green / Red).
2. GREEN LIGHT = Safe Movement
When the teacher calls "Green Light!" , students can perform a wiggle action in their spot (e.g. marching in place, waving arms, doing gentle twists). They must keep their feet inside their boundaries!
3. RED LIGHT = Instant Glue
When the teacher calls "Red Light!" , students must freeze like statues on their spot! Any student with their feet outside of their spot must sit down and do a "3-second deep breath reset" before wiggling again.
4. Champion Round
Introduce distractions during the green/red sequence (like throwing soft foam balls nearby or clapping loudly) to test their focus and spot boundaries!
Suggested Teacher Script:
"Class, today we are testing our superpowers! When I say Green Light, you can do your silly noodle wiggles, but your feet must stay glued to your mat. When I shout Red Light, show me your frozen statue muscles! Let's see who can get five stars!"

Lesson Plan 4
Learning Target
"I can freeze instantly inside my personal spot when the RED LIGHT command is given."
Success Criteria
Student freezes within spatial boundaries on cue, demonstrating impulse control under game conditions.
1 The Hook & Concept Introduction (5 Mins)
Gather students. Explain: "Champions practice through play!" Today, we are testing our lightning-fast reflexes and boundary containment using the ultimate game: Spot-Sitter Red Light, Green Light .
2 Explicit Modeling ("I Do" Script - 5 Mins)
"Watch me stand on my spot. The teacher says GREEN LIGHT! I can wiggle, wave my arms, do a little jig, but look at my feet... they are still glued. Now... RED LIGHT! I freeze! I'm completely locked, straight and tall. No toes crossing, no falling over. I am a master freeze statue!"
3 Active Group Gameplay ("We Do" - 15 Mins)
Instruct students to find their spots. Direct active play: Call out "Green Light!" and assign fun movement themes (e.g. silly noodles, marching bands, rabbit ears). Suddenly shout "Red Light!" . Praise frozen, centered postures. Use the Boundary Games Guide to log their progress.
4 Independent Reflex Reflection ("You Do" - 5 Mins)
Distribute Boundary Games Guide Page 2. Have students check off their successful frozen rounds. Provide 5 minutes for them to draw their best "Freeze Statue Pose" inside the drawing box.
Inclusion & Accommodation Tips
If a student becomes over-stimulated and leaves their boundary, do not penalize them. Instead, have them sit down in the center of their mat, take three deep breaths with you (inhale peace, exhale wiggle), and rejoin the next round.

Lesson Plan 5
Learning Target
"I can stay inside my personal spot even when loud, funny, or exciting things happen near me."
Success Criteria
Student maintains physical containment and focus during structured classroom distraction tests.
1 The Hook & Concept Introduction (5 Mins)
Explain to students that "Classrooms are full of traps!" Dropped pencils, rolling toys, and funny noises are physical traps that try to steal our spot powers. Today, we learn how to dodge these traps like true superheroes.
2 Explicit Modeling ("I Do" Script - 5 Mins)
"Watch me do my math workbook. Oh! A classmate dropped a bright purple marker near my foot. Look at me! I want to jump up and grab it... but wait! I take a deep breath. I keep my feet glued. I say quietly, 'No big deal!' and stay inside my safe space bubble!"
3 Roleplay Card Sequence ("We Do" - 15 Mins)
Take out the printed **Distraction Dodge Scenario Cards**. Review the scenarios with students. Act out each "Trap" (e.g. drop books on the shelf, drop a pencil next to them, whisper "hey look!"). Guide students to stand/sit firmly, cross arms, and look away to "dodge" the distraction. Praise them heavily: "Incredible dodge! You locked it in!"
4 Independent Verification ("You Do" - 5 Mins)
Provide students with their **Distraction Dodge Card Sheet**. Have them identify the cards and color in their favorite "Dodge Choice" from the roleplays. Check their work areas.
Inclusion & Accommodation Tips
For highly distractible students, use a verbal cue like "Shields Up!" to prompt them to cross their arms, look straight ahead, and take a deep breath when a class disruption occurs. This proactive strategy blocks impulsive reactions before they happen.

Learning Target
"I can take my Spot Powers to the Cafeteria, Library, and Assembly Gym floor."
Success Criteria
Student generalizes replacement behaviors to multi-settings and obtains facilitator confirmation signatures.
1 The Hook & Concept Introduction (5 Mins)
Exclaim: "We are world-traveling champions!" Spot powers aren't just for our classroom desks. They must travel with us wherever we go to keep our bodies calm and happy.
2 Explicit Modeling ("I Do" Script - 5 Mins)
"When we go to the cafeteria, our 'Spot' is our seat at the long table. Look at me sitting on my bench. My bottom stays on the bench. My hands stay on my lunch tray. I do not stand up to visit other tables or run around the benches. I eat comfortably in my zone!"
3 Travel Trials & Setup ("We Do" - 15 Mins)
Walk with the student to the **Cafeteria** during off-hours. Have them practice sitting correctly. Next, visit the **Library**. Model sitting cross-legged on a carpet square. Finally, walk to the **Gym/Assembly** floor and mark a physical or mental box where they sit. Prompt: "Show me your schoolwide spot powers!"
4 Passport Stamp collection ("You Do" - 5 Mins)
Provide students with their **Schoolwide Spots Passport**. Have them carry it during real school transitions. Notify other educators (librarian, lunch duty helpers) to stamp/sign the blocks upon successful, seated transitions.
Inclusion & Accommodation Tips
Liaise directly with schoolwide duty staff. Give them 3 key positive behavioral words to prompt: "Glue your shoes," "Check your bubble," or "Great table spot!" Active collaboration ensures consistent expectations everywhere.

Lesson Plan 7
Learning Target
"I can honestly grade my own spot powers AM and PM and record my stars."
Success Criteria
Student evaluates their morning and afternoon behaviors honestly and records appropriate stars.
1 The Hook & Concept Introduction (5 Mins)
Introduce the concept of "Self-Monitoring Superpowers" . Explain: "A real Spot Hero doesn't need a coach forever. Real heroes evaluate their own powers because they know exactly how strong their bubble shields are!"
2 Explicit Modeling ("I Do" Script - 5 Mins)
"It is 11:30 AM—lunchtime check-in! Let me ask myself my two hero questions. 1. Were my feet glued? Yes! I stood inside my taped boundary lines during whole-group. 2. Was my body in my bubble? Yes! I didn't wander off to pick up markers. Excellent! I am going to draw a big happy star inside Tuesday's AM box!"
3 Daily Desk Setup & Honest Practice ("We Do" - 10 Mins)
Provide students with their **Hero Tracker Chart**. Securely tape it to the top-right corner of their desks. Practice filling it out for today. Guide them through honest self-reflection. Ask: "Did your feet stay inside? Were you tempted to wander? Be honest—an honest rating is a hero rating!"
4 Reward Agreement ("You Do" - 10 Mins)
Complete the "Reward Goal" block at the bottom of their **Hero Tracker Chart**. Guide the student to choose a meaningful choice-based privilege (e.g. 5 minutes of iPad time, drawing with special markers, or line-leader status) to unlock if they earn at least 8 stars this week.
Inclusion & Accommodation Tips
Sometimes students may experience "rating inflation" (rating themselves perfect when they weren't). Do not argue. Instead, run a joint evaluation: "I loved your effort! However, remember when you ran to look out the window at the squirrel? Let's aim to stay glued next block so we can earn that star honestly!"
