"Good morning, future Reading Superstars! Give yourselves a silent cheer! Today, we're starting a super exciting journey to become the best readers and writers we can be. Are you ready to level up your reading powers?"
Instruction (10 min)
"Fantastic! Our first mission is to learn some special words called 'sight words.' These words are like secret keys that help us unlock sentences super fast! We don't always sound them out; we just know them by 'sight.'"
"Let's look at our first set of sight words on the screen and on your Flashcards. This word is the. Can everyone say 'the'? Great! Now, spell it with me: T-H-E. 'The.' Can you use 'the' in a sentence?"
Teacher Note: Repeat for 'and', 'a', 'to', 'is'. Encourage students to say, spell, and use each in a simple sentence.
Activity (10 min)
"Excellent work! Now, let's play 'Sight Word Bingo'! I'll call out a word, and if you have it on your bingo card, you can mark it. The first one to get three in a row shouts 'Bingo!'"

"Welcome back, Superstars! Let's warm up our brains with a quick review of some sight words from last time. What's this word? (Hold up 'and', 'to'). Fantastic! Now, get ready for some word magic!"
Instruction (10 min)
"Today, we're going to meet the 'Magic E'! Sometimes, when an 'e' is at the very end of a word, it doesn't say its own sound. Instead, it uses its magic to make the other vowel in the word say its name!"
"Look at cap. It has a short 'a' sound. But if we add a 'magic e', it becomes cape! The 'a' now says its name, /ay/!"

"Now it's your turn to be word magicians! We'll build words like 'cane', 'make', 'hide', and 'rope'. What word have we made with the magic e?"
