How two teens used coding to help people feel less lonely.
An App for Community
Luke Wachowiak is 17 years old. He lives in Minnesota. Luke has a chronic condition. This means he has an illness that lasts a long time. It causes him pain and makes him feel tired.
Once a month, Luke has to get an infusion. A nurse comes to his house. The nurse puts a needle in his arm to give him medicine. The medicine goes right into his blood. It takes many hours. During this time, Luke cannot go outside. He cannot see his friends. He feels very lonely.
Luke wanted to help other kids who feel lonely during treatment. He asked his friend, Logan Bracken, for help. Logan knows how to code. Coding is how people build apps and games on computers.
The two friends worked hard. They built an app called TogetherIV. The app helps people chat and play games while they get their medicine. Now, people can find a community of friends. They do not have to feel alone anymore.
