Listening to my body, asking for help, and trying my best!

My Tummy Gives Me Clues
Every day, my body takes the good fuel from my food. When my tummy is done with the leftovers, it turns them into poop. My body has clever ways of letting me know it is time to go:
🫧 Tummy Rumbles
A full, heavy, or bubbly feeling in my lower belly.
💨 Passing Gas
Tooting or feeling pressure pushing down.
⏸️ Pause My Play
I can pause my toys. They will wait for me!
2
I Can Ask a Grown-Up for Help!
I never have to go to the potty all alone if I feel nervous. Adults love helping me! As soon as I feel my tummy clue, I can walk over to a trusted helper and speak up:
🗣️
Say It Clearly:
"I feel like I need to poop. Can you come help me?"
🤝
Hold My Hand:
"Can you walk with me and stay nearby while I try?"

Parent / Family Teacher / Aide Babysitter

Remember This Super Power
Grown-ups are always happy when I tell them I need the potty. It is never a bother to ask for support!

Getting Into Position
When we walk into the bathroom, my helper can help me pull down my pants and underpants. Then I sit right on the potty seat.
🪜
Rest Feet on a Stool
Having my feet resting flat on a stool or step gives my body support and helps my tummy relax.
🛋️
Lean a Little Forward
Leaning slightly forward with hands on knees makes a gentle slide for the poop to come out easily.

Relax, Breathe, and Just Try
Poop comes out best when my body feels calm and relaxed. I do not need to push hard or strain. I can take slow, gentle breaths:
🌸 Smell the Flower Breathe in gently through the nose.
🫧 Blow the Bubbles Blow out softly through mouth: "Whoosh..."
🧸 Tummy Soft Let muscles feel like squishy dough.
📖 Things that help me wait patiently:
Reading a story Singing a song Holding hands
🏆
Sitting & Trying Is a Big Success!
Sometimes I sit and the poop slides right out into the bowl. That feels great! Other times, my body is not quite ready yet, and that is 100% okay. Just sitting on the potty and giving it a try is a huge victory that makes my helpers so proud!

The Clean-Up Team
When I am finished sitting, I ask my adult to help me clean up so I feel fresh and comfortable:
🧻
1. Wipe Clean
A grown-up helps me wipe front-to-back until the toilet paper is clean and white.
👋
2. Flush Bye-Bye
I can push the handle and wave goodbye to the poop. Down the pipes it goes!
🧼
3. Wash with Soap
I rub warm water and soapy bubbles while singing the ABCs, then dry my hands!
