1 Warm Up: Word Hunt
5 Minutes
Prepare by hiding the 10 Word Cards around the room before the student arrives.
"Hello, [Student's Name] ! Welcome to our special reading adventure today! Are you ready to find some secret words? I've hidden some 'super words' around the room."
"When you find one, bring it back to me. Let's see how many superpower words you can find!"
Teacher Note: Guide the student to cards if needed. As each card is found, briefly acknowledge it (e.g., "Great, you found one!") but save formal reading for the next step.
2 Introduction to Sight Words
5 Minutes
"Fantastic job, detective! You found all our superpower words! Let's put them here for now. Now, let's talk about something super important for reading. We're going to learn about 'sight words.'"
Slide 1-2
"Look at our slide! It says 'Sight Word Superpowers!' Reading can be like having superpowers, and sight words give us a special power! Sight words are words that we see very, very often. We learn to know them super fast, just by looking at them! They're like secret codes that unlock reading."
Individual Words (Slides 4-13)
"Our first word is... 'the' ! Say 'the' with me. T-H-E. 'The' is a very common word. Can you say 'the'? Great! Listen: 'The cat sat on the mat.' Can you make a sentence with 'the'?"
Repeat this pattern for all 10 words: and, is, it, to, a, in, that, I, of. Use the physical cards and the slides together.
3 Guided Practice

"Wow, you just learned 10 new superpower words! Now, let's practice using our new powers. I'm going to show you a word card, and I want you to tell me what it says. You've got this!"

Materials
1 set of 10 Word Cards
A small designated "Collection Area" (e.g., a tray or spot on the table)
Quick Steps

Hide the Words: Place the 10 cards in visible but separate spots around the room.

The Mission: Tell the student: "Find our secret superpowers! Bring them to the table!"

Positive Feedback: As each word is found, say: "Great find! You got 'the'!"

Victory Count: Once all 10 are found, count them together with a high-five.
Teacher Facilitation Tips
