Gathering at the Campsite (Warm-Up - 5 Mins)
Gather students at the circle rug. Introduce the camp theme: we are now a crew of Happy Campers on a daily adventure.
Scripted Cue: "Gather 'round the campfire, campers! To stay safe and have fun on our big trail ride today, we need to train our bodies to follow the Camp Code. When we are Happy Campers, we make our classroom the best place to explore together!"
2
The Happy Camper Code (Instruction - 10 Mins)
Use the Trail Guide Visual Kit to teach the four key actions. Keep modeling explicit, repetitive, and physical:
1. Keep Your Campsite
Stay inside designated learning areas (desk, rug spot, table chair).
2. Watch the Trail Guide
Keep eyes on the speaker, voices quiet, hands in lap, ears listening.
3. Follow Map Directions
Execute classroom instructions within 10 seconds alongside peers.
4. Complete Camp Chores
Independently complete arrival, cleanup, and circle transitions.
3
Campsite Challenge (Guided Practice - 10 Mins)
Practice each skill through roleplay games. Praise campers who demonstrate the target behavior.
Active Modeling: Play "Red Light, Green Light" to practice staying inside boundaries ("Back to Campsite!").
Speaker Check: Whisper "Camp Guide says..." and have students track you with quiet bodies.
Prompting Guide: If a student struggles, use the verbal formula: "Check your Campsite, Ranger [Name]!" paired with pointing.

The Daily Weather Check (Warm-Up - 5 Mins)
Ask students how their "internal weather" is today. Use feelings weather cards to help K-1 identify their emotions.
Scripted Cue: "Hello, Rangers! In the forest, the weather changes. Sometimes it is sunny, and sometimes a big storm rolls in. Our feelings are just like the forest weather! Today, we are going to learn how to check our weather and use our Ranger Breathing to keep our forest calm when the winds blow high!"
2
The Ranger Coping Tools (Instruction - 10 Mins)
Teach the emotional weather codes and the three core physical coping strategies using the Forest Feelings Visual Kit :
1. Mountain Air
Breathe in slowly through the nose (smell the pine tree) and blow out of the mouth (cool the campfire).
2. Tree Stretch
Stand solid with feet rooted. Stretch hands high up to the sky like a giant pine tree for 5 seconds.
3. Camp Cool Down
Sit down, cross arms over chest, squeeze gently, and count backwards from 5 to 1 slowly.
3
Weathering the Storm Practice (Practice - 15 Mins)
Read social scenarios (e.g., losing a game, dropping a crayon, having to wait). Have students identify the "feelings weather" and choose a coping tool.
Modeling Prompt: "A stormy wind blew over our block cabin! I feel Stormy/Mad. Let's do the Mountain Air breathing together: Smell the pine tree... blow out the campfire."
Observation Note: When a student gets frustrated, immediately show the coping visual card. Do not wait for complete escalation.
