LEVEL 01: THE CORE CODE
SYSTEM OVERLOAD
Anger isn't a "broken" program. It's just a system overload. When too many apps run at once (frustration, fatigue, embarrassment, noise), your brain glitches.
CPU Temp: Critical (100°C)
Why a Glitch is Okay
Every console glitches occasionally. The goal isn't to never glitch—it's learning how to trigger a System Restart before you crash.
CO-OP DISCUSSION:
"What does your brain feel like when a game begins to lag or freeze up?"
"When you get angry, does it feel like a sudden glitch or a slow lag?"
Active co-regulation focus No penalty for sharing

Hazard Detected: Academic Overload
LEVEL 02: GLITCH TRIGGERS
Lag Trigger
The Homework Brick-Wall
You look at a math sheet, or a long reading passage, and your brain instantly says: "No way. Too hard. Cannot process."
Glitch Reaction: Crumpling page, head on desk
Error Message
The Mistake Cycle
You make an error on a task and have to erase it or start over. It feels like losing a high-score run right at the end.
Glitch Reaction: "I'm stupid" / Quitting completely
HARDWARE WARNINGS (Body Signals)
Before your computer completely locks up, the cooling fans get super loud. Your body does the same thing. What are your early warning signals?
Hot face or ears
Heart pumping fast
Clenched fists/jaw
Short, heavy breathing
ADHD Connection: Your brain registers frustration super intensely. This makes impulses kick in fast! Catching these body signals is your cheat code.

Hazard Detected: Respect Alert
LEVEL 03: GLITCH TRIGGERS
The "PVP Attack"
In games, player-vs-player (PVP) combat is exciting. In the classroom, when someone smirks, makes an unfair comment, or ignores your boundaries, it feels like an attack on your character.
Classmate Smirk or Teasing
Your brain shouts: "Defend system! Eliminate target!" It feels like you MUST fight back immediately to protect your status.
Feeling Unheard or Ignored
When a teacher doesn't call on you or a peer interrupts, it feels like they are saying you don't matter.
UNDER THE HOOD ANALYSIS
THE GLITCH TRAP
Reacting with shouting, insults, or pushing instantly gives the other person control of your game. They won that round by forcing you into a glitch state.
THE PRO CHEAT CODE
Keep your frame. Staying calm doesn't mean you let people walk all over you—it means you block their code from writing onto your system. Your attention is currency; don't spend it on them.

Master List: Active Reboot Codes
LEVEL 04: EXECUTE WORKAROUNDS
Code 1: The Pause Menu
When frustration hits, hit your mental "ESC" key. This pauses the level so your processor can catch up.
- Take a 2-minute desk-break
- The 4-7-8 Breath Protocol
- Drink cold water to cool processor
Best for: Brain Melt / Lag
Code 2: Ping Support
Pro players don't struggle in silence—they ping their squad. Asking for help isn't losing; it's a co-op cheat code.
- Use your designated help token
- Script: "Can you help me patch this?"
- Ask a peer for a joint raid (assist)
Best for: Hard Assignments
Code 3: Patch Override
Reframe mistakes as "game patches" and disrespect as "NPC noise." You control your system, not them.
- Say: "This error makes me stronger"
- Ignore the distraction (mute NPC)
- Visualize an energy shield block
Best for: Mistakes & Teasing

Live Raid: Defeat the Glitch
LEVEL 05: BOSS BATTLE
Raid Scenario A DIFFICULTY: HARD
The Red Math Sheet
The teacher hands out a math sheet containing 20 multi-step word problems. Your brain immediately gets hot. You feel a massive wave of lag. You want to throw the sheet in the recycling bin.
How do we beat this level?
Which Reboot Code should you activate? Let's talk about what Player 1 and Player 2 do to assist.
Raid Scenario B DIFFICULTY: EXPERT
The Hallway Smirk
You are walking back to your desk and drop your pencil case. A kid nearby giggles, points at you, and says "Nice one, clumsy." Your heart starts pounding. You want to yell in their face.
How do we beat this level?
What is the "Pro Cheat Code" here? How do we "mute this NPC" so you don't drain your power meter?

GLITCH MODE FACILITATION CODE
Optimized for 5th-Grade Executive Functioning & ADHD Co-Regulation
FORMAT: 1-ON-1 OR SMALL GROUP
EST. TIME: 30-40 MINS
1. Delivery Philosophy & Pacing
Students with ADHD struggle with abstract emotional regulation. The "Glitch Mode" metaphor externalizes anger. Rather than framing anger as a behavior failure, we frame it as hardware overload. This removes shame, increases self-reflection, and invites cooperation.
Phase 1: Boot-Up Slides 1-2 (5 mins) Hook student; introduce hardware analogy.
Phase 2: Diagnosis Slides 3-4 (15 mins) Map physical sensors & core triggers.
Phase 3: Code Patch Slides 5-7 (15 mins) Build Strategy Board; dry-run scenarios.
2. Facilitation Prompts & Active Scripts
Slide 3: Managing Mistakes & Academic Lag
"When you look at a packet and feel your temperature rise, that is your processor lag. Let's make an agreement. Instead of throwing your paper, we are going to use the 'Pause Menu Pass.' It is not quitting; it is pausing the level to clear your RAM."
Pro-Tip:
Validate mistake frustration immediately. Teach the student that professional software developers make thousands of errors; they don't break their computers, they simply write patches.
Slide 4: Respect Alerts & PVP Metaphor
"When someone smirks, your brain wants to enter 'PVP battle.' But wait—if you yell, you lose. You gave them your screen attention. Real pro players mute distraction. Let's practice how we use our shield code to ignore and stay on target."
Pro-Tip:
Acknowledge that feeling disrespected is highly painful. Frame walking away/ignoring not as submissive, but as "muting an annoying NPC" to protect their high-score run.
Real-Time Co-Regulation
During an actual classroom flare-up, avoid logical reasoning or asking "why." Follow the co-regulation sequence:
- Match position: Drop your eye level below theirs.
- Model breath: Take slow, audible inhales.
- Low-demand prompt: Point to their Strategy Board. Say: "System restart, let's activate Code 01."
Classroom Integration
Help the general education teacher understand the custom desk system to prevent power struggles:
- Desk Placement: Tape the Strategy Board to the corner of the student's desk.
- Token Setup: Velcro the "Pause Menu" and "Help Ping" tokens directly to the board.
