Focus Allies
Working together to keep minds active and bodies calm.
A Fidget is a Tool, Not a Toy!
Every learner's brain is beautifully unique! For many children, having a small, quiet sensory outlet helps release extra energy, improves active listening, and keeps them engaged. However, fidgets are meant to be focus tools, not toys. We would love your partnership in helping our students navigate this difference so our classroom stays safe, calm, and ready to learn.
Classroom Focus Guidelines
Yes: Focus Tools
Quiet, tactile items that fit easily in a student's hand to help keep their fingers busy while minds listen.
- Fits in one hand: Must be small, compact, and completely manageable in a single closed fist.
- Silent tactile: Hard smooth stones, textured velcro strips under desks, or quiet rubber grips.
- Discreet: Items that don't need to be stared at, allowing eyes to stay on the lesson.
Must be silent, compact, and helpful.
No: Playtime Toys
Items that attract visual attention, make noise, or pose a safety or mess risk to the classroom.
- No potential to "explode": Slime, loose putty, or liquid/gel-filled balloon squishies that can pop/leak are strictly prohibited.
- Two-handed or bulky: Anything too large to hold in one hand, requiring full desk space.
- Noisy or flashing: Toys that click loudly (pop-its), light up, spin visibly, or rattle.
Messy, noisy, or bulky items stay home.
Our Student Focus Agreement
To ensure everyone has a focused environment, students agree to three simple rules when using focus tools:
1 One-Hand Fit
The tool must be small enough to hide in a single hand.
2 Completely Silent
No clicks, pops, squeaks, or distracting visual movements.
3 Mess-Free & Safe
Absolutely nothing that can burst, leak, tear, or spill.
Our Promise
Supporting focus and celebrating unique minds every single day.
With warm appreciation,
