Athletic Mouth Warm-Up (8 mins) Use Slide Deck. Lead students through collective exercises: exaggeration of lip-pressing (/b/), lip-rounding (/w/), and light tongue biting (/th/). Model and have students mimic, checking their reflection or partners.

Cut & Organize (7 mins) Distribute Sound Stars Flashcards . Assist students in cutting out the 4 large mouth reference cards and the 12 word cards. Have students organize word cards into three piles (B, W, TH).

Championship Phonics Games (20 mins) Facilitate target activities using student cards (see instructions below). Monitor for lip positioning and voice box activations.

Clinical Diagnostics (10 mins) While students practice in pairs, pull individuals to run the diagnostic checklist (Page 2). Record performance under accuracy and visual position checks.
Classroom Flashcard Games
Game 1: Mouth Mimic Showdown
Teacher holds up a mouth reference card (e.g., /w/). Students must quickly arrange their mouth to match, and then hold up the corresponding reference card. Once verified, everyone chorally articulates the phoneme three times: /w/ /w/ /w/.
Game 2: Phonics Sound-Match
Teacher reads a target word (e.g. "throw"). Students race to find the correct mouth card that matches the beginning phoneme and hold it up. Transition to student-led pairs, where one partner reads and the other "makes the face".
Clinical Articulation Reminders
Make sure students aren't substituting /f/ for unvoiced /th/ (e.g., "fin" instead of "thin") or /v/ for voiced /th/ ("dis" or "div" for "this"). Observe if lips touch the top teeth. If so, coach the tongue outward: "Put your tongue between your teeth and let the air brush by!"
