What is Next Dollar Up?
The Easy Paying Trick
Example Item
🥤
Grape Soda
Price tag says: $2.40
We don't have coins. Only $1 bills!
💵 $1
💵 $1
💵 $1
The Magic Rule:
Look at the dollar number. Pay that amount, plus ONE MORE dollar for the cents!
$ 2 . 40
➡️
2 + 1 = $3 bills
If there are any cents (like .40), we always give one extra dollar bill.
Page 2
Let's Try These Steps
Step by Step
1
Find the Dollars
Look at the number on the left of the decimal point.
$ 4 . 99
2
Are There Cents?
If the cents are more than .00, we need to add a dollar bill.
4 . 99
3
Add Them Up
Take your dollar number and add 1. Hand that many bills!
4 + 1 = 5 bills
Remember: Adding $1 extra guarantees you have enough to pay the cashier!
