Paragraphs 1–2: The Need for Acceptance
We all want to feel accepted. It is the safe, warm feeling of walking into a room and knowing people value you. Having belonging helps us stay healthy, happy, and strong when life is tough.
Paragraphs 3–4: Groups in Our Lives
Humans have an emotional need to join groups. This includes teams, friend circles, or clubs. Belonging is a two-way street: you give care, and you get care back.
Paragraph 5: Changing to Fit In (Conform)
Because belonging feels so important, people often conform. This means they change their clothes, words, or actions to match the group.

Copying Others to Fit In (¶9–10)
People often compare themselves to others in a group. To fit in, a person might wear the same style of clothing or use the same words as popular members.
Maslow's Needs Pyramid (¶11–13)
A famous scientist named Abraham Maslow discovered that humans have needs. Belonging and love are placed right in the center of the pyramid. Everyone needs belonging to be happy!
