Compliance Coach Guide
Teacher Intervention Guide
COMPLIANCE COACH GUIDE
Implementation Protocols for the Rule Rangers Intervention
1. Core Intervention Philosophy
This intervention targets a 95% compliance rate (19/20 opportunities) for 2nd graders who struggle with adult instructions. It uses micro-praise, visual tracking, and immediate token positive reinforcement to shape behavior. Never remove an earned star as a punishment; instead, leave future stars blank to preserve the trust loop.
2. Daily Implementation Steps
-
1
Morning Anchor: Review the Quest Control Daily Chart with the student. Verbally reinforce the target rules.
-
2
The 2-Prompt Rule: State instructions clearly (e.g., "Please open your book to page 10"). If done on 1st or 2nd prompt, mark compliance.
-
3
Sticker Reinforcement: At the end of each block, count stars earned on the Daily Tracker and let the student transfer those as stickers to the Token Board.
3. The Fading Protocol
Once 95% compliance is maintained for 10 consecutive school days, systematically fade the visual supports:
Phase 1: Merge
Combine Blocks (e.g., merge math & reading) to reduce tracking to 3 times/day.
Phase 2: Delay
Transition reward distribution to only lunch and end-of-day dismissals.
Compliance Percentages
20 / 20 Stars 100% Mastery
19 / 20 Stars 95% Target
18 / 20 Stars 90% Progress
16 / 20 Stars 80% Baseline
15 / 20 Stars 75% Needs Support
Note: Target mastery is reached when student scores 19+ stars consistently.
4. Troubleshooting Guide
Symptom: Student refuses to do chart
Let them choose the color of sticker or physical stamp used. Allow them to pick a "Secret Agent Name" for the ranger card.
Symptom: Melt-down mid-day
If a star is missed, reassure them: "You have 15 stars left! You can still easily earn the Level 2 iPad Reward today!"
Symptom: Power struggle on instructions
Use neutral, non-emotional statements. Always count down "3, 2, 1, action" or give direct choices: "Sit in blue chair or green chair."
Intervention Check-In Schedule
Weekly evaluation: Sync with guardians each Friday to align school & home rewards.
