Routine #2
Level 0 Hallway
Our voices are completely off so other classes can focus on their learning mission.
Hands at Sides
Keep hands to your side or clasped safely in front. No touching walls or artwork.
Tailgating Alert
Keep a safe one-arm distance between you and the pilot in front of you.
Carpet Launch Call
When you hear "3, 2, 1, Carpet Space!" , standard procedure is:
1 Push in your chair quietly

3 Sit in "criss-cross applesauce"

Routine #3
Active Listening (Whole Body)
Eyes are watching, ears are listening, voice is quiet, body is still and calm.
Materials Master
Sharing is caring! Return caps to markers, stack supply bins neatly, and treat books like friends.
Recess & Lunch Mission
Include friends in game boards, invite table neighbors to chat, and leave your spot cleaner than you found it.
Circle Discussion
"What does a supportive teammate sound and look like when someone else is speaking?"
Our Class Golden Rule:
Be safe, be kind, be helpful!
We build each other up every single day!
Community First 🤝
Dismissal Flight Plan
Routine #4
1
Clear the Runway
Clean up your desk area. Pick up any scrap papers on the floor within three feet of your chair.
2
Mail Call
Grab mail from your mailbox. Pack daily logs and folders safely inside your backpack.
3
Stack & Rest
Stack your chair quietly and sit on top of your desk or stand ready behind your launchpad.
Ready for Launch?
Run a self-diagnostic check before we line up for the bus and pickup:
Floor is spotless?
Backpack is closed?
Chair is stacked?
Ending our day strong, organized, and proud!

Instructional Philosophy
Second graders thrive on predictability, but need active, visual, and physical modeling. This guide provides explicit verbal cues, tactile challenges, and structured scripts to install routines permanently. Do not just explain—demonstrate, practice, and celebrate speed!
Day 1: Morning Mission & The Folder Runway
20 mins
Core Focus: Unpacking, folder drop-off, desk takeoff, independent work initiation.
Teacher Script (Say This):
"Good morning, Champions! Today we are learning our Morning Flight Path. The moment your feet cross our doorway, your mission begins. First, you hang your backpack and coat on your launchpad hook. Next, you follow the 'Folder Runway'—you walk silently to our green mailbox and place your folders straight inside. Then, sit at your desk, grab your morning sheet, and ignite your brain. Let's see who can do this silently in under 60 seconds!"
Day 2: Transitions & The Carpet Launch Call
20 mins
Core Focus: Quiet lining up, hand positioning, safe distancing, rapid transition to the rug.
Teacher Script (Say This):
"When I call '3, 2, 1, Carpet Space!', that is our secret countdown. On '3', stand up and push your chair in without a sound. On '2', walk on your tiptoes like a ninja. On '1', find your assigned carpet circle and sit in 'criss-cross applesauce'. When we line up, we stay at 'Level 0'—no voices, hands resting safely at our sides, leaving a one-arm spacer between you and the pilot in front of you."
Day 3: Dream Team Community & Dismissal
20 mins
Core Focus: Sharing materials, whole-body listening, desk packing, seat stacking.
Teacher Script (Say This):
"We are a team, and teammates care for each other. When someone speaks, we listen with our whole body—eyes on the speaker, quiet lips. At dismissal, we 'clear the runway'—pack up your mail, clean up all scraps under your desk, stack your chair, and stand ready behind your launchpad. Let's finish our day as strong as we started!"
Pro-Tips for Maintaining Long-Term Consistency
⚠️ Common Pitfall: Sluggish Pace
If students take too long to settle or unpack, do not nag. Turn it into a game: time them with a stopwatch and challenge them to beat the classroom record. Celebrate clean transitions with small stamps or group points.
🎯 Visual Cues & Signals
Always pair verbal instructions with non-verbal signals. Use hand signals for "Folder Drop" and "Eyes on Me." Point to the printed anchor chart (Page 2) as a quick redirect before vocalizing corrections.
