Core Rotation Principle
This schedule provides a seamless rotation where each 6-student cohort rotates in groups of 2. It ensures maximum direct engagement at the Teacher Table for core components (UFLI & Math) while utilizing the Catalyst Hub and Literacy Loft for reinforcement.
Grouping & Behavioral Supports
Strategies for maximizing focus, supporting transitions, and self-regulation
6 Active Students
Targeted Student Cohorts
Group Alpha
1. Benjamin (Benny)
2. Samantha (Sam)
Focus: Intensive phonics (UFLI) & math concrete touchpoints.
Needs: High transition visual aids.
Group Beta
3. Marcus (Marc)
4. Alisha (Ali)
Focus: Guided comprehension, math skill reinforcement.
Needs: First-Then visual reminders.
Group Gamma
5. Elijah (Eli)
6. Chloe (Chlo)
Focus: Text analysis & self-paced Catalyst modules.
Needs: Self-directed regulation targets.
Behavioral Supports in Action
1. Desk-Strip Desk Schedules & First-Then Boards
Give each student their matching desk strip schedule. For high-support students (Benny and Marc), use the physical First-Then Boards. Attach the visual card for their current active station to "First" and their reward choice to "Then". Update every 15 minutes.
2. Zone Check-Ins (Start of Every Block)
Spend the first 30 seconds of each block prompting students: "Where is your engine right now?". Students can tap their Zone (Green, Yellow, Blue, Red) on their desk strip. Provide a simple breathing cue (e.g., box breathing) for Yellow/Red check-ins before starting academic tasks.
3. Anchored Visual Expectations
Pre-teach expectations using the visual charts: Teacher Table (focused, quiet voices, active response), Catalyst Hub (headphones on, hands on device, stay on software), and Literacy Loft (independent reading, quiet writing, ask a buddy if stuck).
Daily Rotation Setup Checklist
Slide Timer Loaded: Have the visual timer slideshow set up on the primary screen.
Desk Strips Attached: Print and tape current daily visual schedules to each of the 6 desks.
Catalyst Devices Ready: Log devices into the adaptive math application with headphones.
Teacher Materials Set: Prepare UFLI lesson binders, dry-erase markers, and direct math manipulatives.
