Morning Routine Mastery

A comprehensive 5-day sequence designed for TK-2nd SDC students to master the arrival routine. This sequence integrates visual supports, core vocabulary, movement games, and systematic errorless learning prompting to ensure all students, including non-verbal learners, successfully navigate morning transitions from arrival to play time.

Hook and Hang Day 1

Focuses on the first step of arrival: identifying their personal hook outside the door, hanging up their backpack, and hanging up their jacket using high-support hand-over-hand and gestural physical prompting.

Safe and Sound Day 2

Focuses on the transition across the classroom threshold: walking feet, voice volume control (Level 2), and entering safely during direct small-group practice and interactive modeling.

Hello and Play Day 3

Focuses on social communication and rewarding behavior: students practice saying hello (verbally, via signs, or using AAC) to teachers and peers, followed by direct transition to independent morning play choice stations.

Routine Rumble Day 4

Focuses on chaining the individual steps together (Hook -> Walk/Volume -> Greet -> Play) with visual schedule supports and faded prompting. Includes a structured 'Routine Obstacle Course' to practice.

Arrival Superstars Day 5

Focuses on independent completion of the morning routine sequence with minimal prompting. Includes a 'Routine Graduation' celebration, individual progress evaluation using the IEP data-tracking rubrics, and certificates of mastery.
