Break the shutdown sequence activity into smaller, step-by-step tasks.
Provide written examples of bedtime routines and environmental changes.
Allow sensory accommodations such as headphones, fidgets, sunglasses, or movement breaks.
Frame sleep habits as flexible strategies rather than strict rules.
Encourage participants to choose realistic “one percent wins” that fit their routines.
Use concrete and direct language when explaining circadian rhythms and sleep hygiene concepts.
Provide options for audio-only calming activities for participants sensitive to visual stimulation.
