Warm-Up: Brain Boost
Activate attention by asking about existing focus strategies. Introduce the concept of a "Toolkit."
05'
Intro: Focus & Time-Blindness
Use slides to define time-blindness as "blurry time." Introduce discrete movement as a valid tool.
07'
Strategy 1: Focus Fueler
Practice subtle tactile movements (squeezing, tensing). Discuss application in specific classes.
08'
Strategy 2: Time Tracker
Practice breaking tasks into visual chunks. Complete a section of the worksheet together.
05'
Application Discussion
Identify specific classes to trial a tool. Problem-solve potential barriers.
02'
Cool-Down: Reflection
Summarize one key takeaway. End with positive reinforcement and confidence.
Core Objective
"Identify and practice two discrete classroom strategies to manage inattentiveness and time-blindness, incorporating brief, present-focused movement breaks."

Brain Boost: Focus Challenges
Sometimes our brains like to go on little adventures, even when we need them to stay right here!
Tasks that feel tricky:

Listening to the teacher
Starting an assignment
"It's like trying to catch a butterfly with a net that has a few holes in it. We need to patch those holes!"
Time-Blindness
Have you ever felt like time just... disappears?

Phase I
Warm-Up: Brain Boost
Teacher: "Hey [Student's Name], thanks for coming today. To get our brains warmed up, let's start with a quick thought: What is one small thing you sometimes do to help yourself focus when your mind starts to wander? No right or wrong answers, just what comes to mind."
Allow time for response, affirm their answer, and connect it to the lesson.
Teacher: "That's a great strategy! Today, we're going to build on ideas like that and find even more 'tools' to help your amazing brain stay focused and manage time, especially when things feel a little... blurry. We all have unique brains, and the goal is to find what works best for your brain."
05'
Phase II
Intro: Time-Blindness
Teacher: "Let's dive in with our slide deck. Have you ever looked at the clock, and suddenly a lot more time has passed than you thought? That feeling is what we call 'time-blindness.' It's not about being bad at telling time; it's just that your brain has a harder time feeling how much time has passed. It's like the clock hands are a bit blurry."
07'
Phase III
Tool 1: Focus Fueler
Teacher: "Tool #1 is all about helping your brain come back without leaving your seat. It's about small, quiet movements like squeezing a stress ball in your pocket or tensing and relaxing your leg muscles. Let's try one or two together."
Guide the student through trying a couple of discrete movements using the Focus Fueler Activity sheet.
Teacher: "Could you imagine doing that in English class during reading, or in Math? When do you think this might be most helpful for you?"
08'
Phase IV
Tool 2: Time Tracker
Teacher: "Tool #2 helps you 'see' time better. Instead of a huge assignment, we break big tasks into small chunks. Let's practice with our Time Tracker worksheet. Imagine you have 30 minutes of homework. How might you break that down?"
05'
Phase V
Application
Teacher: "Out of the Focus Fueler and the Time Tracker, which one feels like something you could try this week? In which specific class will you try it? What might be a challenge, and how could we overcome it?"
02'
Phase VI
Cool-Down
Teacher: "Excellent job today! Can you tell me one strategy you feel most confident about? I'm confident you can start using these tools. Remember, every little step helps!"
