1. Personal Care & Safety
- • Toileting Support: Provide direct assistance with managing clothing (zippers, buttons, pants pulling) and basic hygiene. Respect privacy while ensuring absolute physical safety.
- • Mealtime Supervision: Supervise all snack and lunch periods. Designated staff or peer helper to assist in opening containers, peeling fruit, and managing heavy lunchboxes.
- • Dry Hand Hygiene: Absolutely no water-based hand washing that risk wetting braces or casts. Supervise the use of hand wipes or dry hand sanitizer exclusively.
2. Physical Safety & Activity Exemptions
- • Material Handling: A designated buddy or staff member must carry student's backpack, binder, lunchbox, and library books during transitions.
- • Recess & PE Restrictions: 100% exempt from running games, climbing playground equipment, and contact sports. Must be stationed in a designated safe, supervised zone. See Page 2 for approved structured activities (e.g., Bubble Blowing, Shadow Tag, Lawn Bowling).
- • Physical Reminders: Since the student is 6 years old, she requires frequent, gentle verbal redirections regarding safety rules (e.g., "Keep your hands up," "No leaning on your wrists").
3. Academic & Classroom Modifications
- • Verbal / Scribe Responses: Eliminate fine-motor output expectations. Accept verbal reasoning, oral storytelling, or dictation to a teacher/aide for worksheets and handwriting tasks.
- • Assistive Technology: Utilize speech-to-text tools or audio recording options on tablet/computer for student responses when a human scribe is unavailable.
- • Classroom Seating: Seat student in a low-traffic location away from pathways to prevent accidental bumping of her injured wrists by peers.
